The Ark of the Covenant is such a beautiful symbol that I simply cannot share all the details in one go. Again this beautiful box measuring 3 feet, 9 inches long and 2 feet, 3 inches wide and high was made of Acacia wood and overlaid inside and out in solid gold. It was the symbol of God's presence with Israel.
The three items inside will be discussed next time but the miracles recorded about the Ark are of particular interest to me. The River Jordan split allowing the Israelite's to pass on dry land and the walls of Jericho fell so that the Israelite's could capture it. God would however not tolerate irreverent use of the Ark.
In one battle when Israel fought the Philistines they took the Ark out onto the battlefield, obviously without God's instruction and the Philistines captured the Ark and took it back to their land. When they placed the Ark next to their idol Dagon, it fell to the ground and the people were plagued. Lol! It is no wonder that the Ark was returned.
You see some people feel they can make light of God's presence and treat Him with disrespect. If history is anything to go by, that does not bode well for their future. Yes we are living in a new dispensation with grace as our guide but when we enter into God's presence it should still be done with reverence. Yes music we can relate to should form part of our worship, but it is still that, worship! We are not at a show watching a performer.
When next you enter God's presence, know that His glory is around you and in you and worship God for His holiness, love and grace. Know that as God split the Jordan, he can make a way for you to succeed and that God will remove the obstacles that stand in your way to reaching your promised land.
