“We sent Timothy who is our brother and God’s fellow worker in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith, so that no one would be unsettled in these trials.”
-1 Thessalonians 3:2-3
God sent Timothy to the Thessalonians with great purpose—to strengthen and encourage them in their faith.
God has sent many godly friends into my life with that same purpose in mind—-to strengthen and encourage me in my faith. In looking back at this past year, I am so thankful for the friends I have had by my side. They were not just there for the good and happy times like many friends are. These friends were there to anoint my head with oil before I had surgery, they prayed while I was in surgery, and they prayed for my job and God’s provisions in my life all year long. These friends did not just encourage me weekly, but daily. “How can I thank God enough for them in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you?” (1 Thessalonians 3:9)
Lord, Thank you so much for the relationship I have with you, and thank you for blessing me with these friendships, too. These ladies have accomplished your purpose 100 times over. They have made sure that I do not grow weary in doing good, and they have definitely strengthened and encouraged me in my faith. What a beautiful example of godliness you have set before me. Father, help me to be that kind of friend in return. Place people in my path who need to draw strength and encouragement from me. Please bless and protect my dear friends today. I love you my God, Amen.
