“Against all hope, Abraham in hope, believed, and so became the father of many nations.”
-Romans 4:18
Even when there seemed to be no hope, Abraham continued to hope in God and the promise God had given him: that he would become the father of many nations. When God gave Abraham and his wife, Sarah, a son in their old age, they looked back at that seemingly hopeless situation, and gave all the glory to God.
I am in the midst of some seemingly hopeless situations right now. As a matter of fact, the enemy and world around me continue to tell me, “It’s hopeless!” But God gave me a promise, and like Abraham, in hope, I choose to believe God’s promise. God’s promise to me came from Jeremiah 29:11, “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a future and a hope.” I am going to believe in that promise and trust in God, even when it seems hopeless.
Dear God, Thank you for the promise you have given me in Jeremiah 29. Lord, I trust you with my life. I know the plans you have for me are good. You have instructed me to fear not, but I need help with this. Through the power of your Holy Spirit, would you help me to live out this hope that I have in you at all times. Father, please guide me to do your will, to serve you, and to focus on others instead of myself. I pray this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
