2 Corinthians 3:17 says now the Lord is that Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.
The definition of freedom is the state of being free or at liberty rather than in confinement or under physical restraint. Another meaning is exemption from external control, interference, regulation etc.
St John 8:32 says ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Will you be free is my subject. Jesus Christ has paid the cost for us to be free with his blood. Our freedom in Christ has set us free from the bondage of sin and death. Romans 8:2 says because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
No more are we to operate in the shackles that had us weighted down. We are loosed by Christ to serve him with our whole being. When we were without Christ we were slaves to the devil. It doesn’t matter how much wealth a man has, if he doesn’t have God he is spiritually enslaved. See, the bondage of the world brings oppression that can lead to depression that a man is not able to resist without the Holy Spirit. I have seen people who were oppressed become free with the finger of God.
John 8:36 says If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. This is about having a free mind, a free heart and a free spirit. FREE from fear, FREE from oppression, FREE from depression. FREE!
Although God Almighty has made us free moral agents, it is up to us to operate in the freedom that Christ offers or else we return to the chains that had us entangled.
Think of the man who is incarcerated. He desires nothing more than his freedom. There is not a day that goes by that he doesn’t think about being released. He longs for the presence of family and friends doing the things that he could not do in prison.
In conclusion, it is the free man who walks. So if we are to be free, it will be in Christ. Amen.
