Proverbs Chapter 4 Bible Study
This study continues our Book Of Proverbs study
Proverbs 4:1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
One who correctly instructs in God's Word is a father.
When we pay attention to these instructions and apply them we will cultivate understanding into God's Ways and Will.
Proverbs 4:2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
In Proverbs 4:2 we learn that such a father gives Good Doctrine. We are commanded not to forsake it, disagree with it or oppose it.
Proverbs 4:3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
The writer of Proverbs 4:1-2 is a son to his father. He is tender and beloved in his mother's eyes.
Proverbs 4:4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
This son's father also taught him. In other words, he too had to listen to "a father".
Those who give God's instructions must always exhort others to apply God's Words with willing hearts. Those who obey God's Commandments in such a way will have life.
The Feminine Wisdom
Proverbs 4:5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
We must never decline from God's instructions. Wisdom is something we must "get (accept, apply and comprehend)". This is the only way we will obtain understanding.
Proverbs 4:6 Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
When a person learns to love wisdom they become Wise. A Wise person will not be overtaken by lack of discretion or forsight.
Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Wisdom Is The "Principal".
Let's learn the Bible's definition of "Principal":
Exodus 30:23 Principal Spices
Leviticus 6:5 Principal is associated with restoration to atone for a trespass (Numbers 5:7)
1 King 4:5 A Principal is a friend of the King (Jesus)
In 2 Kings 25:19 "Principal" is associated with five (Wise Virgins), Found (Salvation), King's Presence (Rapture), City (Heavenly Jerusalem-Mount Zion (Rapture) (Matthew 25:1-12; Galatians 4:24-26; Hebrews 12:22; Revelation 14:1-12)
In 1 Chronicles 24:6 "Principal" is associated with being "Taken (Rapture)", the Levites (Priests), the Priests and Fathers and the King
A "Wise" person will be taken by Jesus when He comes. A Fool will be Left Behind (Matthew 25:1-12).
How To Obtain Understanding
A person must listen to God's Teachings (Instructions). That person must then pray to God asking His Holy Ghost to help them obey God's Ways. The person then begins to apply God's instructions in his/her daily life. They begin to grow in God's Ways. God's Wisdom begins to increase in their life. As they see the results and benefits of obeying and/or disobeying God they gain understanding.
Proverbs 4:8 Exalt her, and she shall pomote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
Christians should love God's Wisdom as a man loves his wife. In doing so this Christian will be promoted and honored for applying God's Wisdom.
Proverbs 4:9 She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
Yes! God's Wise Servants will be Crowned with Kingdom Glory and God's Grace (2 Corinthians 12:1-14).
Proverbs 4:10 Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
God promises to increase our life when we Wisely obey our Father and Mother (Exodus 20:1-12).
Proverbs 4:11 I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
Our Right Path is to Obey God's Instructions. This is the Right Path.
Proverbs 4:12 When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
Proverbs 4:13 Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
Praise God! God promises that when we obey Him we will be Wise.
Thus we will never have "falls" and "restraints" due to unwise actions.
Obeying God's Instruction Means Life~
Shun Those Who Refuse To Obey God's Way
Proverbs 4:14 Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. Proverbs 4:15 Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
Many modern Christians condone associating with ungodly people and "Christians" who don't obey the Bible's God.
God's Word commands His Servants to shun any and all who disobey God's Will. In God's eyes they are evil (Matthew 25:1-12; Matthew 7:13-29).
Christians can preach and encourage such ones. Yet they should never socially or religiously associate with such ones.
The Words "Pass Away" Points To The "Pass Over". The "Pass Over" Prophetically Points To The Rapture (Matthew 25:1-12; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17; Matthew 24:37-41).
Proverbs 4:16 For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. Proverbs 4:17 For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
As Jesus Raptures His obedient servants into Heaven, The Lord's Supper will begin on Earth. Satan and his angels will fall to Earth at that time (Revelation 19:1-9; Revelation 12:1-17; Revelation 13:1-12; Revelation 17:10-17; Revelation 19:10-21; Matthew 25:1-12; Matthew 24:37-41; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17; Revelation 9:1-20).
Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
Of Course the "Light" Of Proverbs 4:18 is Jesus Christ (John 8:12).
The Perfect Day Is The "Lord's Day". This Is The Day Of Heavenly Rapture And Earth's Great Tribulation Of Fire (Revelation 1:10; Revelation 1:1-20; Revelation 17:10-17; Revelation 19:1-21).
As Jesus The Light Nears Earth to Rapture humans, His Divine Revelations Will Become Brighter to Bible Obeying Christians (Amos 3:1-7; Revelation 19:10; 2 Peter 1:20-21; John 14:26).
Proverbs 4:19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
The Rapture Will Be Light To God's Heaven Bound Christians But Darkness To Those Left Behind On Planet Earth (Matthew 24:37-41; Exodus 14:1-30; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17; Matthew 25:1-12).
Proverbs 4:20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Proverbs 4:21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
Christians should be intently taking in some form of God's Holy Word (Instructions) Daily. They should also be praying to God asking that the Holy Spirit helps them Love God's Ways and Eschew Ungodliness (1 Peter 3:11).
The Best Health Food You Can Find!
Proverbs 4:22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
Exercise and Eating Right Is Wisdom. Yet Obeying God's Word also Guarantees Good Health.
During The Great Tribulation God Will Consume (Burn, Eat) The Fleshly Sins From Those "Left Behind (Revelation 17:10-17)".
Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
We must love God from the heart not just with actions. We must have Faith and Diligently serve the Lord (Hebrews 11:4-6).
Proverbs 4:24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
In our Proverbs Chapters 1 and 2 studies we learned what the Bible words "froward" and "perverse" mean. It primarily refers to False Religious Doctrine. Christians must shun False Religious Doctrine.
Proverbs 4:25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Proverbs 4:26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. Proverbs 4:27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
We Christian must trust in God's Holy Spirit to remove us from evil. We must stay focus on God's Will and not on Satan's World around us.
"Lord Help Us Do Your Will. For Your Will Is Everlasting Life. Amen"
