When the year is new, many of us resolve to make changes or improve in different areas. Breaking bad habits, forming good ones, improving attitudes or behaviors and so on. It is very important to seek continual improvement and to be willing and active participants in achieving our goals in every area. It is also important to keep in mind and come to the understanding that God has his own resolutions and intentions for us. There are concepts he wants us to comprehend through his revelations to us through his word or holy spirit inspirations that are intended to be lived out in real time. Not just knowledge or knowing without action. Obedience, doing what he says.
Our motives substantiate our intentions, because our reasons why bring with them a firm or weak foundation . On a firm foundation our intentions will grow and increase , but on fragile shaky land they will collapse. In order to grow our ideas need life and God is the creator and giver.
Therefore, our intentions need God's breath. Meaningful absolution will bring a meaningful manifestation. Our desire should always be to please our heavenly father. 2 Corinthians 5: 9 "So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it. " Solid motive consists of three elements. Love, obedience and thanksgiving. Anything we do in obedience to God is on course with loving him because he said if you love me, you will obey me. Our thanksgiving to God is demonstrated in a life surrendered to him, and the way we take care of what he has entrusted us.
Our obedience results in stewardship and daily focus on kingdom goals. He says to love others as we love ourselves, we need to take good care of ourselves and the resources he has entrusted us. Philippians 2 :4 states we should tend to other's intrests as well as our own. Self care and preservation are not selfish ,they are necessary to our response of his commands. So, in this way we are practicing love. Then, in anything else we set out to do for ourselves or others we will ultimately bring increase to the kingdom because of godly stewardship. Let us pray for solid gold motive.
A wonderful scripture for godly motive is to pray Timothy 1: 5 "The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith." Praying everyday Father, may the aim of all my purposes stem from these elements.Yes, the intention and harvest of all we do should be nurtured with this love. As we watch God make them grow.
Our intentions- determinations, aims, purposes of actions or ends we resolve to achieve are seeds. Seeds are the propagating source that contain the realized goal or result. Blueprints of what we would like our finished product to be. Our intentions set up a map and give us direction . A vague sense of direction or lack of resolve set us up for cloudy focus and uncertain ambition. Purpose gives us clarity. In order for seeds to grow they need to be planted in the ground and nurtured.
In the spiritual sense, we plant our seeds ,resolutions, into the ground of God's will and faith in his power to make them grow. Through his grace we contribute our part by our faith, love and following his commands.
In the place of our spirit, the place of truth- that private place where our spirit meets his. The place of only ourselves and God, where the holy spirit knows what to pray. This is the place we need to sincerely believe, receive and cooperate. Because, in this place God plants a harvest that only he can achieve in and through us- simply requiring no effort on our part than trust and submission to his will and Lordship. Proverbs 16 : 3 " Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."
