“And when they had opened their treasures, they presented to Him gold, frankincense and myrrh. Then being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way.”
Last week we read about how the wise men worshiped Jesus and gave their treasures to Him. Next, we will begin to look at the significance of the gifts and their application to us. The gifts the wise men brought were not things that we would typically give a little baby; they were a prophetic declaration of His role as Savior and Lord over all. This week’s message is about the gifts of gold.
1. The articles of gold that were brought represented the Kingly calling of Jesus. It was what people normally presented to their king. For us, gold represents the kingly calling and anointing that God has placed on you and me. We were born to rule and reign, to be the head and not the tail. 1 Peter 2:9 tells us “You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” Friend, you are chosen, you are called. You have been appointed and anointed. You are a significant part of the royal kingdom of light! One day you and I will physically sit at the right hand of Jesus and fulfill our royal destiny. Until then, He has called us to live from that heavenly perspective, unhindered by the issues of this life but flying above them in the victory He has made possible for those who are His. Satan is indeed under your feet! There is strength and power released to you. There is holiness and a divine calling which is yours in Jesus. See yourself as God sees you, and begin to walk in your calling from this day forth! The Holy Spirit will enable you, if you ask Him. You are royalty, you are a priest, you are holy through the blood of Jesus Christ.
2. Gold also represents the true riches of a life in Jesus, and the prosperity that should be covering every aspect of our lives. Too many of us have lived with insufficiency, infirmity and inability for too long. Abba is calling us to higher ground this year. He has a golden anointing to release to those who desire, and it is the blessing that comes upon our finances, health and wholeness when we rise up to our royal calling and begin to give to the King what is due to Him – His tithes and our offerings. The Word of God assures us (Malachi 3:8-12) that we experience the blessing of Heaven when we are faithful to give God what belongs to Him. I have seen this to be true in every part of my life. As you diligently give, you will see Heaven’s faithfulness poured out on you in multiple ways. Let this year be significant in how you begin to walk in the radical blessing of God. Let this year mark a turning point in your life because you become a radical giver in the Kingdom!
3. Gold is also symbolic of everything we hold as precious and valuable. Jesus is the treasure beyond all others, and the pearl of great price, but is there anything in your life that is more precious to you than Jesus and your covenant with Him? It could even be a relationship, an opinion or an attitude which you have held on to, which the Lord has been telling you “Let it go”. This year, allow the Holy Spirit to take over; to speak into your heart and help you to give it up to the One who gave it all for you. When you release something to the King, you open the way for His multiplied blessing. Something good is on its way to you!
Dear friend, hear the Word of the Lord today and let it take root in your spirit. This year is going to be different. You may have struggled for a long time with what you accepted as the normal course of life, but the Lord wants you to walk in His blessing and in the fullness of His love. Believe and declare that it is going to be different this year. It is going to be a year of stepping into the fullness of your calling, and into the abundance which God has for you. Sow good seed and see your golden harvest, and be blessed, in Jesus’ name, amen!
