“Follow me and l will make you to become fishers of men” Mark 1 v 17 ESV
Among other meanings the verbs “become “is defined as change or grow to be something. Jesus is constantly calling us and beckoning us to come to him and become all that he wants us to become.
The most amazing part of the Christian journey is the special privilege that we have as children of God found in John 1 v12 “…12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the authority (power, privilege, right) to become the children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name— “Amplified version. God calls us his own children and he has given us the authority and the grace to live out our lives as he continues to change us from the inside out.
Many times in our walk with Christ we become discouraged and look at other people or compare ourselves with others. It is always easy to see others as greater men and women of God than ourselves thereby shutting our ears to Jesus’ call for us to follow him. Let us never consider our weakness, but always consider God's greatness and power and never abdicate our positions in the body of Christ but continue to follow Jesus.
James 5 v 17 states that “Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.” (NIV) Be assured in the year 2014 that all of heaven is on your side and that you too can pray prayers that will shake this nation, your family and any situation you might be facing. Do not look to the left or the right or at your own frailty but remember that to all who have believed he has given the right to be called the children of God and you are a child of God.
