Wise Men Seek Him - Part 4 - Good Foundations For This Year
“When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.”
The wise men were filled with joy when they saw the star leading them again. It is indeed a thrill to hear God’s voice or receive His clear direction especially if we have been through a time when we felt that God was silent!
As we step into another year, there are two tips we can take from the wise men which can be good foundations for 2014:
Make worship a priority. The wise men had been searching for Jesus for many days and there were probably many things they wanted to find out when they finally found Him. However, the first thing they did was to prostrate themselves before Jesus and worship Him. There are many things we can choose to do as believers in the Lord Jesus, and many acts of service we could offer Him, but none more important than to worship Him. Jesus told the Samaritan lady in John 4 that the Father is seeking worshipers, those who worship Him in spirit and in truth. He is looking for sincere hearts who love and long for Him, and make Him their priority. Worship aligns us with the heart of God and brings us into His presence. Worship creates open heavens. God calls us to worship Him because we become like the One we worship. In His presence we are touched and transformed. In His presence we are changed from strength to strength and from glory to Glory. In His presence we experience a fullness of joy! There are many great prayer warriors and intercessors in the Kingdom, but not too many worshipers, who seek the Lord just to worship at His feet. Dear friend, let worshiping Jesus become a priority in your day this year. Set aside some time each day to worship Him and lift up His name. The Father is looking for you! You will be amazed at the difference it makes to your day, and the sweet joy that will fill your heart. There may be many things that pull you in another direction, or things which hinder you when you decide to spend time in worship. The enemy hates it when we worship Jesus, because he knows there is power released into our lives when we do so; but if you persist and make it a permanent part of your day, there is unimaginable grace awaiting you, and the sweet Presence of Jesus to flood your life and work.
Lay your treasures at His feet. The wise men gave their treasures to Jesus; they laid their gifts at His feet. Friend, there are many treasures and gifts the Lord has blessed us with and we may have kept them for ourselves, and seen them as a blessing for our own lives, whether spiritual gifts, time, relationships, material blessings etc. This year, the Holy Spirit calls us to lay them down at the feet of Jesus, and submit our “all” to Him. As you yield it all to Jesus, He will release it back into your life blessed and multiplied, to flow not just to you but through you as an exponential blessing into the lives of many others. He will lead and guide you, and show you what He wants you to do. He will take you to higher ground and into the fullness of your inheritance in Him. God has multiplication and increase in store for you, and it begins when you release what is precious to you into the hands of the King!
Friend, if you knew what God has in store for you, you would rejoice with “exceedingly great joy” as the wise men did. He has good plans for you, plans to prosper you, and the future He wants for you is bright. (Jeremiah 29:11) Choose to lay a good foundation for 2014 – one of worship and submission to Jesus, one where He is your priority and the Holy Spirit is your guiding light. He will navigate you through the waters of this life. He will flood you with His peace and joy. May your year be truly blessed in every way, in Jesus’ mighty name!
