Sunday 1/5/14 Pastor Michael sermon Greater Faith-Seeing What You Say! Mark 11:20-24
One of the challenges of life is to know what to believe from what people say. People make promises and have no intention of doing what they say. People nowadays will say one thing and do another. People donít think it is important to keep their word. You should never give your word cheaply. Numbers chap 23 says God is not like a man that He should lie. If God said it, He will do it. If God spoke it, He will bring it to pass.
In our text Jesus is talking to the disciples about the fig tree that He had previously cursed for having no figs. The tree had the appearance of being fruitful. The tree had leaves like it was fruitful but up closer, it had nothing. We may know some people like this tree. They talk loud and act like they have something good but when we get up close, they have nothing. Jesus cursed the fig tree and He didnít look back because he didnít have to wonder about the tree being cursed. He had the knowledge of the power of his word. If God said it then it is just like it has already happened! It shall come to pass!
The next day, Peter saw the tree all withered up. He pointed it out to Jesus. Jesus was not surprised about the condition of the tree. He said have faith in God. Stand on Godís word and He will show up! God is always right on time! Trust Him. He will show up right before your lights get cut off and your rent is due! Trust God! Stand on Godís word and He will work it out!
1) Have Faith in God vs 22:
To have our faith go to the next level, we must have a relationship with God. With the relationship, we have more faith in God. God doesnít lose any battles and walks in victory so have faith in God. Donít have faith in friends, not in family but have faith in God. With God we cannot be let down. Who we put our faith in is important. Our faith cannot be in our job, our friends, our bank account, our boss, or our family members. They cannot give us what we really need. Our faith cannot be in our pastor or in the choir. Our faith has to be in God. When we have faith in the right things, it will produce what we prayed for. God cannot lie! God is going to do greater things in you life! He will show up! It might not happen when we think it should happen but God cannot lie and He will show up!
2) Speak What You Believe:
Speak your faith. Faith is based on what you say because you say what you believe. The devil wants you to be quiet. You need to say what God says. He told you that this year will be your best year. Let the weak say I am strong! God said it! When Jesus cursed the fig tree, He knew the spiritual realm word would take over and bring it to pass. Jesus said speak it then believe what you say and it will happen. Maybe not right away but it will happen because God said it! He will do stuff that will blow your mind! Jesus said to say to the mountain, be thou moved and cast into the sea. Speak to the mountain! If you believe, not doubt in your heart but believe then what you say will come to pass. You will have it! Your mountain will be in the sea! Speak to whatever has been holding you back. Tell it to move! We are not staying at the same level. Let the weak say I am strong! Mountain move out of my way in Jesus name! Faith will move mountains! Thank God for it already being done. Say it, speak the Word! Let the poor say I am rich! Mountain movers believe God to do the impossible! Faith will move mountains and God answers our Faith!
