The doctors told miss Annie Grey she'd never walk again,
The little girl from Shusett Bay who only just turned ten,
They said they'd done all they could do but she was too far gone,
But Annie Grey cared not a day and just kept rolling on.
She fed the cats and walked the dog and drank tea in the yard,
Then afterwards she rode to town, it wasn't very hard.
The ice-cream man he cried aloud Hello Hello miss Grey!
Would you like to have a sample of the flavor of the day?
And Annie Grey bounced up and down excited as could be,
She chose a cone of Cherry-Mint with a side of strawberry,
She ate and licked not knowing that a cab was closing in,
A driver with a temper red who'd drunk a Bott'o Gin.
Not looking no, no turn around but she turned a right too fast!
It hit and killed miss Annie Grey and there she took her last.
So Reverend Hill called all the town to the the graveyard saturday,
And held a service for the girl who died just yesterday.
But he said how she was safe that she was walking with the King,
She had no need for medicine for she found her everything.
And even tho she suffered long yet she only lived ten years,
She's in His arms, the ones so warm that wiped away her tears.
And when He let her down He shouted run my Annie run!
And ran she did oh how she ran for her life had just begun.
