"then Jesus placed his hands on the man's eyes again, and his eyes were opened. his sight was completely restored."
3 questions come to mind when reading this story: 1) why did Jesus use saliva? 2) why did Jesus touch the man's eyes twice for complete restoration? 3) why did he tell the man to not go back to the village?
you see, God can use anything to do anything. God uses the natural to bring forth the supernatural. Moses wooden staff "God's staff." (Exodus 4:20). 7 loves, 2 fish to feed 4000 (mark 8:5-7). The faith test was given to this man. The two touch shows how God finishes what he starts. Jesus took the blind man out of the village of Bethsaida by hand. God has to take us somewhere else sometimes to receive our blessing. like how he did with the Israelites through Moses (Exodus 3:17). like how he also did with Joseph to Egypt (Genesis 39:1-2). And also to Abraham from Haran to Canaan (Genesis 12:1-3).
so you see, God wants us to advance to our future and not replay our past just like he told the blind man, "don't go back." I myself cant imagine being blind but I'm sure this man was in misery. stuck in the same routine, always in the same place. But Jesus came to the rescue and change this man's life in one encounter. God has opened our spiritual eyes so that we can follow him today. Through your life, he will bring the supernatural.
