Luke 22:19 And he took bread, gave thanks and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you..
2 Corinthians 4:10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
Like the breaking of bread, the body of Jesus Christ was broken for us. Through the breaking of His flesh, sin cleansing blood came flowing out. With the piercing of his side, life flowed upon the human race.
His body was broken for us, we ought also to be broken for Him. In every believer there is life. The unlimited power of God's presence resides in us - limited from overflowing us only by our own hardness. So the still small voice of His Spirit daily calls us to be broken before Him. Every dying of self, every piercing of pride unleashes the river of life to flow through us - touching others.
Today: is there any brokenness of heart? Any mourning for righteousness? Any crying for lost sinners? Have any wrong inner thought been exposed, being pierced by the Word of God. As more areas of our lives are broken, His Spirit will fill us, and flow through us.
There is no resurrection without death, no issue of life without a wounded side.
