You may have tried to change yourself for better result, more fulfillment, and more satisfaction in your life, but you can’t change. You may have read many books on personal improvement and the so called success principle and techniques but it couldn't change you. It seems that you need some help other than yourself. You may ask why? The answer is simple: you can’t change your life the way you wanted all by yourselves.
What kind of change? We all desire a progressive change toward greater fulfillment. We think we ought to change. Change the way we think, the way we live, work, behave and act every day. We think we ought to mend our habits, behavior and the lifestyle which we have had cherished it for such a long time. The harder we tried the more frustrated we become. We tried to change but we can’t.
Though we may change our life through our determination and will power it won’t last long. It’s like pressing a spring, the moment you let the pressure go, it immediately spring up. External change can happen only when there is inner change. Permanent inner change can happen only when we allow Jesus Christ to enter our life.
Many people who in their zeal for personal transformation had mistakenly turned to the so called motivational books and had spent their hard-earned money for nothing. Everything that those books and success techniques offered were awesome and inspiring but they can give only what is called a spurt moment of inspiration which lasted only a short period of time and they became their normal self again doing nothing worthwhile.
What we need is a permanent change that doesn’t change with the test of time. Permanent change requires a changed heart and a changed mind. We cannot change unless we have a new heart. One may asked how we can have a new heart since we were still the same men? In Bible we have witnessed that ordinary men like Moses, Ezekiel and the other men of God were ordinary men like us, and why had they become so great. It is only because God changed their heart.
Why we failed to change? Why all these efforts failed us. The answer is simple: we can’t change by ourselves alone. We need a helper other than our selves. All those motivational books and successful living techniques advocated a changed within self or what may be called as an auto-change. They believed in individual self-determination and will power. When individual lived in state of complete desperation, rejection, anxiety and worry and these magical phrases like, “believe in yourself" "if you think you can, you can” were only a vague promises and we need a helper other than ourselves. There is only one way out : that is our Lord Jesus Christ our savior. Our Lord Jesus Christ says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”(John 14:6)
We all know good and bad things in our life. Why can’t we let it go the bad things in our life and change ourselves for good? This is because we were born in this sinful world and evil is a part of us and we were born with it. It is because of our sin that God send his only son to save us.
As a mortal being we can’t let sin go off from ourselves because sin is more powerful than us. We must ask God to help us and God will give us another helper whom the world has never known or heard of it- the holy spirit. Our Lord Jesus Christ promised us. “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever” (John 14:16)
The only way to permanent change: The only way out here is Jesus Christ. You can ask Jesus Christ to come to your life and change you permanently. When you do that you will experience indescribable inner peace and joy you will never forget in your life. Lets us pray together this little short prayer, “Lord Jesus Christ, I open up my heart to you. I need you in my life. I need your eternal guidance and enduring love to change my life. I know you alone can change me and I gave myself to you and take care of me, Amen” When you let yourselves in God’s hand everything will change and you will have a new perspectives on every things around you and your mind will be filled with new hope and peace which you had never experienced before.
Change into a new creation: When you were in God’s hand you become a new person. The Bible says, “Therefore, If anyone is in Christ; he is a new creation; old things have passed away; Behold, all things have become new"( 2 Corinthian 5:7 ) Here the Bible stressed on two main points: new creation and the passing of the old. Here the Bible says about a totally new being which means a permanent change because the old one has passed away and a new products has been formed out of the old. The passing away of the old one refers to the destruction of the old selves which will never come again.
This new creation will never grow old again though it may appear to be wasting away but inwardly it will be renewed each passing day. The Bible says “So we do not lose heart, though our outer self is wasting away. our inner being is renewed day by day"(2 Corinth 4:16-18) This change is nothing but permanent change which we all desire to have it. One may ask how will God give us permanent change?.
When God changed a person he gave them a new heart. God says," I will give you a new heart, and put a new spirit within you."( in Ezekiel 36:25-26).The new heart here refers to the mind of Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “Who has not known the mind of the lord that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ”(1 Corinthians 2:14-16 ) When we have the mind of Christ nothing in this world can daunt us and everything becomes possible.
God alone can change your life because he is the maker of all life on this universe. God can change your life only if you allow him to change you. When you do that change is sure to come to you. You will witness God’s continual guidance and amazing grace in everything you do and you will not only change but become a new creation.
