Romans 5:1 (KJV)
'Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ'
Unless we truly have a revelation of God's grace, living the Christian life can be tiresome. Throughout our walk with Jesus we are likely to make some mistakes, and unless we can comprehend His unconditional love for us, we can enter into guilt which is what the devil wants! The devil uses guilt to slow us down and to make us feel that we can't turn back to God. Guilt also causes us to doubt God's love and forgiveness which is unconditional! This is a lie of the devil and it is the grace through faith in Jesus that will pick us up every time we stumble.
Isaiah 64:6 (KJV)
'But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.'
Just the other day I had 'one of those days'. Everything appeared to go wrong and when I look back It was mostly due to my own foolishness and so I repented and said to God "sometimes I don't deserve your love Lord", and I felt Him say in return, "You never have deserved my love; no one has, but I love you unconditionally through every high and every low." How wonderful! God's love doesn't depend on our performance, but upon His grace! Do not get me wrong, we can of course please God by accepting Jesus and living for Him but that doesn't mean we can rely on our own righteousness and good deeds for salvation and right standing with God!
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
'For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God'
The truth of His grace will allow you to walk in holiness and freedom knowing that when you do fall, God will immediately pick you back up, if you continue to pursue and seek Him.
Later that same day, my younger brother was feeling sick and I asked him if I could pray for him and so I did and after praying and commanding the sickness to go in the name of Jesus he said he no longer felt sick at all! From this, I just want to encourage you that God doesn't need 'perfect' people who will serve Him and be used by Him; he is looking for those who know that they need Him as they recognise their own failures and He will use those who make themselves available to be used! Remember God uses the ordinary to do extraordinary things through the power of the Holy Spirit! He used ordinary men like Peter, John, Paul etc. to do incredible things for God's kingdom. These are just few of the many that God used who were themselves ordinary people and who all had mistakes. He uses us because it's about Him bringing life to others and all He is looking for, is people who open themselves up to Him! Understanding God's grace for yourself will allow you to open yourself up to God even on those days where you feel distant from God - know that God sees you as righteous all the time, so know also that you can be used anytime and anywhere. This is grace, that we can be used by God, for the sake of His kingdom, despite everything we have ever done, because of the sacrifice that Jesus made once and for all to end sin! Truly, If you abide in Christ, your are held in His grace forever, for nothing can separate us from the love of Christ (Romans 8:37-39).
Psalm 55:22 (KJV)
'Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.'
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
'For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.'
So knowing that His grace always covers us, let us live abundant lives as Jesus intended us to live, by not being held captive by guilt, but rather walking in holiness through the power of the Holy Spirit!
God bless.
