You Can Know!
By Rick L King
Dec 12, 2013

Recently a good friend of mine passed away. He use to struggle on the issue if he died as to where would he go? Scripture is pretty plain on this and I hope this settles this for someone.
1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
So, what has God said in scripture that assures us that we may know that we have eternal life?

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

We are told in this passage that if we call on the name of the Lord that we shall be saved.

Some years back I was working part-time at a gas station. Just before closing time a man came in and started talking to me. I found out real quickly that he was high on drugs. The Holy Spirit instructed me to talk to him about Jesus. I did and I was surprised as the man all the sudden said that he wanted to be saved. Well this rather caught me off guard as I had a lesson to learn. I went outside and started talking to the Lord. My thought was that this guy can't get saved as he was high. Does he even know what he was doing? The Holy Spirit reminded me of Romans 10:13 as stated above. He said if he calls then he gets saved. He asked me where in that scripture do you see any conditions? He said that there were none. The man then accepted Jesus and the Lord delivered him from the drugs at the same time.

Romans 10:9-10
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I have heard of many things that people do that try to make them think that they are saved. They shook the pastors hand: they attended a certain church, they got baptized, they squeezed their neighbors hand in the pew, etc. Scripture that was written tells us what gets us saved. The above scripture is pretty plain. We confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus. In other words we speak that Jesus is the son of God. That He died upon the cross for our sin. That God raised him from the dead and now lives eternally. If you can say this with your mouth and by faith believe it, then according to scripture you are saved.

Your head my say that you are not saved. You should however know deep inside as you have the witness of the Holy Spirit. Some people struggle with this issue mainly because they lack some knowledge. First there is a devil. Jesus said:

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Jesus gives life. The devil attempts to steal life. When the thought comes recognize that it is the devil lying to you. If you did what scripture says above then you ARE saved. God cannot lie. The devil is just trying to make you believe that you are not saved. In other words he is trying to steal from you. He is a liar and the father of lies and the truth is not in him.

I know many think being saved is foolish or that there is no God let alone that we can know and walk with him. The Bible is full of accounts about God talking to people. God has not changed. He talks still to people by his Holy Spirit. We are even told to be led by the spirit.

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

Obviously if you know Jesus then you will hear the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking to you. This sometimes takes some time as you have spent your life listening to your head. There can be a transition period as you learn to listen to your spirit man inside instead of your head. He wants to talk to you and lead and guide you.

God offers you life with Him because HE loves you.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Though this may be a stretch for you I would encourage you to just open your heart and believe what God's Word says. This is an eternal decision. The only one that would send you to hell is you. God gives you an opportunity and choice in the matter. You can choose to live for self and the devil or you can choose to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and when it is your time to leave earth, you will go to Heaven and be with God. Maybe you are skeptical. I challenge you to do this then. The scripture I stated above said call upon the name of the Lord and be saved. Give Jesus the opportunity to prove himself. Call upon Jesus in prayer and say if you are real and I should be saved then save me. You will be surprised at what God will do. He said if you call then you get!!

If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
