... and a blanket of darkness covered the land.

Joseph, in restlessness pondered in puzzlement due
to the days misfortune. Eventually he drifted into
sleep, bewildered with that well known ache in his heart.

Matthew 1:20-

But as he thought about these things, behold, an angel of
the Lord appeared to him in a dream saying, " Joseph, son
of David, do not be afraid do not be afraid to take to you Mary,
your wife, for that was which is conceived in her is that of the
HolySpirit

Matthew 1:24-

Then Joseph, being aroused from sleep, did as the angel of the
Lord commanded him and took to him his wife.

And when 'aroused from sleep' with a multitude of thoughts that
filled his mind, he hastily threw his garments on, scurried to
where his beloved resided. Nearing day break Joseph arrived unexpectedly to Marys' sheltered abode forgetting to rap at her door way.

As he entered he perceived Mary sitting contentedly in her favorite chair, yet with paradox shadowed a pale hue over a once glowing countenance. Joseph took notice immediately and questioned her with concern. Mary replied accordingly; " I had a strange craving for pickled olives and had more than my share."

Relieved, Joseph opened the flood gates offering an apology, their marital status, the idea of building an extension of his abode, and their future plans, all in one breath.

In the climax of his narration Mary approached him in order to grant him a loving embrace. Joseph backed off hurriedly. "What's wrong exclaimed Mary!" Joseph then reminded her about his angelic encounter and the command to remain celibate until "Jesus " was born.

Mary abruptly countered with twice the the hug as before with such love that would cause angels to swoon. Joseph remarked, "I foresee see that this will be a long, eventful and taxing pregnancy."

And they parted aglow. - And the rest is 'HIS' story...
