Reading more of the Bible each day

"Those who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31

The Holy Spirit guided me to read 30 pages of the Bible each day, or average 210 pages a week. For months I had been reading less, and was watching over an hour of tv, and not doing a lot of book reading other than the Bible. I did not feel strong in faith.

Reading 30 pages is more my level. It suits me, I am a lot happier with this amount, I feel stronger in my faith, and altogether more right.

I was reminded recently that I was to put God first. So I put a day aside and read about 50 pages of the Bible. Nothing bad ever happens when I do this. No calamities, no family problems, no worries. The Holy Spirit may lead me to pray a little, but this day was to be one given to getting into God's presence and staying there. Every now and again, when I have a holiday I spend the whole day in Bible reading and waiting. It's like eating the best meat and drinking the best wine, when you really spend time with God like this.

Now that I am back to my natural Bible reading quota I feel more healthy spiritually. I watch less tv, my conscience is clearer, I get attacked by Satan less, since I am withstanding a lot of his attacks.

Sometimes you have to be assertive in your faith. Endurance in Bible reading has a lot of benefits. I feel that you can't overdo Bible reading, since you are leaning towards God. If He feels you are overdoing that discipline, He will correct you. My concern is reading the Bible too little. By reading more of the Bible I am relying on God and the faith He gives me. So I'm not relying a whole lot on other people to support me.
