I have always been a lover of music; my high school dream was to become a singer/actress. Many years down the road, at age 58, God has allowed me to become the author of four Christian books, and has also given me the gift of songwriting.
After the first three songs were revealed to me, I was amazed that they all had a Country sound. This style was new to me, but I sang them with ease. As a songwriter, I knew that I had to record a demo if I wanted to be heard by a publisher. I prayed and asked God to reveal a recording studio to me.
Previously, I had found some information about the famous Gaither Studios in Alexandria, Indiana, but I had no plans of going there because I lived in Albany, Georgia. Some time later, I looked at the information again. Mr. Gaither’s picture was on the front page, and for a moment, it seemed to come alive. It appeared that he was looking straight at me. Within my spirit, I heard God whisper, “This is where you need to record.”
After this mysterious experience, I knew what I had to do, but I had no inkling of how it would all come together. The next night I called my dad who lives in Newark, New Jersey. With excitement in my voice, I said, “God has revealed where I need to record!”
My dad asked ,“Where is it?”
I replied, “At the Gaither Studios in Alexandria, Indiana.”
My dad slowly replied, “Well, that won’t be a problem because I’m going in the area for Thanksgiving Day.”
This conversation took place in October, 2004. I remember that day as if it were yesterday. Some people may call it a coincidence, but I know better.
I met my dad in Ohio. He introduced me to family members. It was exciting getting to know these strangers who were actually my kin. After staying there several days, we moved on to Kankakee, Illinois, where we visited other family members that I had never met. After about three days, we started our journey to Indiana. I was so excited as I thought about the future recording project.
During my visits with family, the producer that would be working with me, called to let me know that the music was finished, and they were waiting for my arrival.
We arrived on a Sunday evening. Gaither Studios had an apartment next door that they rented out to individuals that recorded there. My dad and I considered it a blessing to occupy the apartment during our stay.
My recording session took two days to complete; my experience at the Gaither Studio was phenomenal. Thanks to God, my dad, and everyone involved, my musical project was a complete success. I returned home with a professional demo, and a heart of hope. I truly considered this project “a musical miracle.”
