Away from his native homeland was Daniel, he had no one to be along except for a few friends and amidst the most hostile and threatening living conditions, whom could he befriend. Daniel found his rest and comfort in God, to whom he prayed daily three times, for sure he did this not just in a traditional or in a customary way, rather he had his life in prayer and thus when the decree was issued not to pray, Daniel could not but pray.
James Montgomery has written a blessed hymn titled, ‘Prayer is the soul’s sincere desire.’ Wherein he mentions prayed as the Christian’s vital breath, thus when one stops breathing, he/she cannot survive longer and death is assured.
We are as we pray, if we pray well, we will find comfort, for only in talking to God can we find true rest for our soul.
Be it our personal prayer, family prayer, prayer with fasting, prayer for the meals, we need to be always in prayer.
The Lord through Apostle Paul has encouraged us in this manner:
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. ” Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)
We need the peace that comes from the Lord God or else there are countless reasons for us to worry, the devil has schemed to trouble us, however only through prayer can we be victorious and keep our peace.
Prayer is the Christian’s vital breath,
The Christian’s native air,
His watchword at the gates of death;
He enters Heav’n with prayer.
