“who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”~ Esther 4:14 KJV
What do Daniel, Esther and Joseph all have in common? They were vessels of God set apart for a time of preparation (the action or process of making ready or being made ready for use or consideration) for kingdom service or work. As we peer into their lives we can see the sovereignty of the King of kings. God sent each one of them through a process to prepare them for their kingdom assignment.
During Esther’s and Daniel’s day, there was a mandatory time of preparation for them before they entered their royal duties.
For Esther, her prep time included attending the Beauty School of Susa for a year before she was fit to be the queen of Susa. “...she was given the prescribed twelve months of beauty treatments—six months with oil of myrrh, followed by six months with special perfumes and ointments" (Esther 2:12). After she won the beauty pageant and assumed her royal position as Queen of Susa, the life of her people was threaten. Now it was time for her to fulfill her kingdom assignment to be a voice and savior (willing to lay down her life) for her people.
Daniel’s prep time included three years of study at Babylon University. “And the king appointed for them a daily provision of the king’s delicacies and of the wine which he drank, and three years of training for them, so that at the end of that time they might serve before the king” (Daniel 1:5). At the end of his training, he was assigned to stand before King Nebuchadnezzar and three other kings after him. His preparation continued beyond the three year training. He interpreted the dreams and visions of the pagan kings. He was thrown into the lion’s den and experienced hindrances to his prayers. All the situations and circumstances that took place in his life prepared him for his kingdom assignment to be a prophet of God. He spoke the truth and revealed the heart of God to earthly kings for the glory of the King of kings.
God is getting some of us ready like Daniel to stand before earthly kings and proclaim the word of God to them with boldness.
Now Joseph’s preparatory time for his kingdom service wasn’t initiated by any earthly king as we saw with Esther and Daniel. His prep time was issued by the Heavenly King. Joseph’s training years lasted for 20 plus years from the time he had the dream about being a leader of his family. During those years, he went through some hard stuff (slavery, falsely accused, imprisonment, promotion in prison to summoned to go before the king). He experienced some bumps, hurts, pain, disappointments, betrayal, rejection, misunderstandings, etc... like some of us. But he didn’t lose sight of the dream or vision God showed him. He was steadfast. He understood what the enemy meant for evil, God turned it for his good. The sovereignty of the King in Joseph’s life led him to his kingdom assignment to save his family and provide food for them in the midst of the famine.
Trust the sovereignty of the King during your process and believe whatever you experience in your life, He will turn it for your good.
