Hi, I’m David, meaning, “beloved.” It is an honor to share this characteristic with my namesake, “…a man after God’s own heart.”
So often have I prayed that the Lord would instill in me His heart for people. Last night, at prayer meeting, I believe He gave me a taste of His answer to my prayer.
There are fifty-six different needs represented on our Prayer Request sheet distributed to all in attendance. Needs of every shape and size that may affect any of us living in the present day and age are represented there. Relationships, illness, financial issues, loss of a loved one or a long time friend, requests for salvation, addictions, those serving in the military, shut ins, wisdom, and those that choose to remain unspoken. The list goes on and on.
Praying earnestly for every name and need my eyes and heart kept returning to the fourth item on the list. The Holy Spirit had me seriously thinking and praying repeatedly for this prayer request from a young child. “Daisy is sad because her Goldfish died.” A simple, childish request that the Lord used to remind me of the, faith of a child. The, “faith of a child,” He tells us, in His Word, that we should have.
I knew, without question, that He was affirming in me, His heart for His people. What a blessing that granted me. Knowing He’s the one who put that joy in my heart assured me that He’s no way finished working on me. I’m not discounting all the other prayer requests. They are all real needs that only God can fulfill and I cherish the faith of those that share them.
I must admit that I am especially blessed to know that Daisy has the childlike faith to carry her every hurt and fear to her Heavenly Father. Even more than that I am thankful that the Lord showed me the simple faith, of a child like Daisy, to remind me of my prayer, “to be a man after His own heart.”
