Devotional on Revelation 4 By Timothy Pool 10/24/13 On my face, broken and frustrated. At the end of myself I cry out to God in the name of Jesus. The realization of my need for God washes over me like a wave. Tears come streaming out of my eyes mixed with the comfort only Christ can give to His brother. Jesus, via His Holy Spirit, escorts me to the throne of Our Father in Heaven. The reality of Heaven is opened up to me. The words of Revelation 4 become more and more real to me. As I gaze upon the beauty of God, as brilliant as gemstones. I become awestruck and full of wonder. My inner eyes are flooded with light and understanding deepens. The worship of Heaven and all its passion stabilizes my soul as I join in with the angels and the redeemed. The mystery of Christ is unveiled to my soul. I have just tasted the presence of God and a new appetite is imparted into me. My need grows for this place of worship. My frustration with the flesh keeps me coming back to the presence of God for more and more. My flesh wars with my spirit. Two natures are engaged in a war for my soul. I am an unworthy participant. The more my flesh fights the more I hate the desires of the sinful flesh. As of late the return to my knees is the only relief I can find. Broken and humbled before My King Jesus. The realization of my need for Him has become the gateway to a deeper walk with Christ. Hunger leads me to the deeper parts of Christ and he satisfies. Walking in the Spirit is possible only after entering the presence of God in the name of Jesus. Meditating on the Words of God bring His voice into focus. With all the distractions competing for my attention it seems difficult at times to hear from God, but in times of brokenness and the outpouring of frustration to a God who loves my tears there is a closeness that is truly intimate. Face to Face with Christ on the Cross, the mediation between God and man. Like Paul I have been crucified with Christ and it is no longer I who lives, but Christ lives within me. This happens via the power of His Grace. Grace is a gift that allows us to draw to God. The righteousness of Christ imbued upon a sinful person in humility. Oh the humility of Christ! the meekness and gentleness of Christ!
