1 John 5 :12,13 NIV
He that has the Son has life; and he that has not the Son has not life; these things have I written to you that you believe on the name of the Son of God; that you know you have eternal life and that you may believe on the name of the Son of God.
What a promise that is! Yet there are still people who wonder if they are saved.
Does that mean that a person once saved has to go to church?
There were many people in the Bible who didn't attend church, in the formal way, yet they still believed.
Often when the word church is heard, pictures of country settings with steepled buildings may be seen. Some may even have bells or crosses on them. Are these really Gods church?
There are many who have been hurt by people in the church, so they refuse to return. I feel sad for them because I'm sometimes afraid they think they can't love God, if they won't go to church.
What we overlook is that no where in the Bible does it say you must go to church to be saved. The building is nothing more than that, a place to be with other believers and share prayers, praise and testimony.
The real church is built in each of us after we accept Christ. The Holy spirit must have learned some carpentry skills from Jesus. He has built some people up with some unique gifts that he chose just for them.
God gave us all gifts of one kind or another. Not all gifts are the obvious kind. However if we chose to stay to ourselves and not share them when God ask, we are litteraly boarding up and hanging a closed sign on God's Church .
I have heard many say the lake or stream is my church.
Wonderful! Jesus preached by the lake, next to a water well. He even preached in a house and as he walked through the countryside. Jesus spoke wherever he was. He brought church to the people.
Ok! I heard that Grumble.
Yes Jesus sometimes went off by Himself.
Everytime the Bible reveals Jesus trying to be alone, It's because He was praying and spending time with His Father God.
Always being alone is not church.
It is Good for us because when we are alone, just not all the time. That is when we are able to open our selves totaly to God. To reach out to Him with our hurts, needs, fears and for others. God told Us to lift each other up in prayer. When your alone with God, you never need permission to come before God, alone and lift up someone else.
I often think that is one of the strongest prayers that can be prayed, because you are using you time alone with God as a gift to others.
Returning to the question 'Do I need to go to Church?'
Honestly, I don't think so or God would have made it a requirement. The real question should be is "Does God Want Me There?'
God gave you a gift or maybe even gifts to share. If you don't go, who is really missing out on the gift God gave you to share.
You may not be the speaker, yet you may be the only person who sat next to someone who was feeling alone because there is no longer anyone in their life to sit next to. You may not have gotten much from the lesson, but the hand you shook or hug you shared may have been the turning point of that persons life toward Christ, because you took time for them. They also may have been hurt by some church, you may be the person that shows them not everyone is the same.
See You are the Church to others. It doesn't matter where you are or the building your in. God said they will know your mine by your actions. If you stay by yourself what kind of witness of his love are you being. Non believers need to see our hurt, our pain because how we handle it is how they often see the love of God.
The Bible tells us that where two or more are gathered, He is in their Midst.
Reach out where ever you are and Share your Gift, because God gave his Best Gift for your life, because you are chosen.
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
