Apparently I Can't Sing
"Apparently, I Can't Sing"
I cannot sing, it's clear to me
Though I try so very hard.
And now I write a poem to it,
Pretending I'm a bard.
I've tried so hard to sing on key,
Doesn't really matter though.
I'm told I sing just like a bird.
Too bad: a ruptured crow.
I'm deeply moved by those who can
Like Elton, Styx or Sting.
But when I try to croon a tune,
The sound is deafening.
Folks have told me I should hum
And keep my volume low.
I tried that too but people said,
"Shh! We want to hear the show!"
No need to feel regret for me
Or send condolence flowers.
I'm content to sing my heart out
In private, in my shower.
