Time For Examination Saints
Time For Examination Saints
We in this life today live in a time of heresies. We prefer preachers that give us sweet words of nothing rather than the Word of God. The Word cuts to the marrow and joints of the bones; Hebrews 4:12 tell us of the power of Godís Word. For the Word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. The Word of God tears up stuff in us that wants to take root and control our lives where we donít serve God. Itís sweet yes but itís sour sometime too! We have to take the Word and apply our lives to it, not use it for our own means.
The marrow is the fat contained in the tubes and cells of the bones, the essence, the best part. It is used figuratively to denote the satisfying provisions of the Gospel according to Isaiah 25:6, and for the secret thoughts of the heart. The Word is just that important to salvation for the believer; itís a must have. The Gospel of God and God Himself scrutinizes men. When we accept Christ that is even superior to the angels we by virtue accept who He is and the appointment of God in his life. We accept what he has done and that he stands exalted far above anyone else, man and all the angels in heaven. We therefore can never be careless of the great salvation He proclaimed. He will achieve for man that promise that all things will be in harmonious subjection to man. He can do this because he is fully man and has provided the expiation for sins for He is the Son over the people of God. Itís tragic not to trust in Christ; the Word.
Christ and the Word can never be separated, just as Jesus the man cannot be separated from Christ the Redeemer. Let us examine ourselves today to see if we are in the faith or not. Unbelief kept a whole generation of Israelites from Canaan. We, the born again Christians, Saints are warned today of such unbelief. Faith is emphasized as well as zeal to enter into the eternal rest of God. Compare, make the difference needed and walk this walk of Christ. We must be developed in the Word that we become qualified candidates for heaven. We must meet the conditions of the Word and be prepared for advancement in heaven.
I Corinthians 11:28 but let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread and drink of that cup. In this scripture Paul exhorts us to set things in order or put into action what is needed that we are to carry out to the finish endurance in salvation, righteousness and holiness in the Lord. He exhorts us to search into ourselves and explore to see if we be in Christ or not as we ought. David said in Psalms 26:2 examine me Lord. David examined his life and found himself wanting because he could not feel Godís Spirit upon him. We need to have such a relationship with God that we know when he has departed us. We donít want God to depart us but there are things that will carry us off the beacon path of Godís Holiness.
The people of Corinth were a church born again from methods of heathen worship and religious observances of the heathen. Paul was greatly disturbed over conditions in Corinth since he left them. Aquila and Priscilla was now with Paul in Ephesus. Apollos had come to Ephesus from Alexandria and after further instruction by Priscilla and Aquila had been sent by them to Corinth. Apollos was a gifted preacher and made a powerful impression so that the church there was divided over Apollos and Paul. Once the trouble was started there was a faction for Simon Peter and another for Christ. There was bitterness and other evils that arose and immorality of a grave nature grew. They went to the law before the heathen, took extreme positions about marriage, quarreled about the meat offered to idols, made common the meal of the Lordís supper and quarreled over the resurrection. Does this sound familiar of our day? Satan donít change his tactics, he just change partners.
Letters were wrote to Paul to inquire of him about the disturbances. He sent others but he himself had to come and see about the new found church at Corinth. The Church of Corinth was composed of people of all classes and conditions very much like today. Establishing Christianity today is very much like in Paulís day, there is always opposition because the hearts of the people is not solely sold out to God and they look for excuses to sin. There were questions of ethics as is today as well as problems of schism and morality and doctrine. There is Godís Doctrine and then there is manís doctrine. The forms change, but eh problems remain with us and recur with ever changing faces on the perimeter. Just as the Judaizers then took advantage of the fight, arguments and bickering, so Satan does with the Church today.
Wherever he can get a foot hole in he comes and we allow him to. He too takes advantage of our division and injects his unrighteousness in unaware. This increases confusion among men and leads man astray. We find that this kind of controversy still exists in the world in which we live today among church and state. What religion do we belong to; the religion of Cain and or the religion of Abel? We live in a world where there are two types of Religion; the religion of Cain and Abel, representative of Satan and God; The harlot and the bride of Christ. Which do we belong to? One is of the ground and the other of the heart.
If we serve God for things we are just like our daddy, the religion of Cain. Cain gave God an offering of the fruit of the ground, an offering of the world system, the ground is under a curse, the best of the curse and the best the world has to offer. The best car, houses, the best offering, gadgets, clothes, and music is what we desire. Cain gave the best, the sweetest of the fruit, and the juiciest. We make comparisons that mine is better than yours. Satan wants to be better than God. He wants the best of the bests although his place is beneath us. We want to give God everything other than our hearts. Cainís heart was after the world and its goods. Cain followed harlotry. The earth is the Lordís and the fullness thereof, everything belongs to God already including us but we rule our heart in the earth through the power of disobedience.
We can give God possessions but he wants our hearts. Show God how much we love Him; how we are willing to sacrifice our all for Him. Abel gave far and above God asked of him. He gave of his heart. He walked in the level of God; the religion of the heart. He was a part of the bride of Christ. There are three levels we can be on; with God in heaven, man on earth and Satan under our feet. There dwells today a high Level of the religion of pleasure, money and self. There exists in the Church a religion of the head, the religion of man that has moved them from the pulpit preaching and exalted themselves as a God. There are many that are high and lifted up as the High Priests of Pharaohís house. They are king of the hill; a god of the hills so much so that they have a heaven or hell to put men in.
We need to choose this day the Level of God we want to go and how we will get there. There is a right way and a wrong way. We need to decide whom we will serve and if we will do it Godís way as prescribed by his Word. Choose which do we belong to: The Father God or our daddy the devil? Do we follow the lusts of the eyes; what our eyes see we want? Do we follow the lusts of the flesh heaping to ourselves things that takes us away from God? Do we follow the pride of life where we seek for things? What are we choosing; God or Baal, God or Satan, this worldís good or heaven for Eternity? We must choose this day who we will serve; but whoever we choose know that it will be for eternity, forever.
We live in a day that Timothy in II Timothy 3:1-7 talked about. Today men even Godís called, anointed, appointed men are turning like never before away from sound doctrine. This know also that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Whatís real and whatís false, man turning to fables rather than the Word of God. Forget me, donít see me but please accept the Word of God. We need to become new creations in this world born again with a brand new mind, a new heart, hands that do Godís will, feet that runs to God and a body that follows the way of Holiness. We choose evil over good when we refuse to deny man the ungodly lusts. We choose evil over good when we know to do right and do it not. We fail God when we accept what religion teaches concerning the Tradition of men other than what the Word of God says. We need to do an examination of our beliefs and see just who we belong to. We canít belong to God and do the things contrary to his Word. Do we even know what we believe anymore?
Are we not reprobate (disapproved of strongly, condemned, rejected, damned, totally bad, or lost) concerning the faith? Sure we suffer (undergo, experience, allow, permit or tolerate) persecutions and afflictions, live around evil men and see that seducers has waxed worse and worse, been deceived (ensnared, mislead, betrayed and beguiled) and being deceived but we must continue in the things which we have leaned and has been assured of and knowing of whom we have learned them from. Godís Word makes us wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is given by the inspiration of God for which we should never forget or forsake. It is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness that we may be perfect, thoroughly furnished to all good works. The Word is a vital part of our weaponry in this battle which began before we were born in this world. Itís time to examine ourselves and see if we are in the faith or not.
Ask ourselves if we are willing (readily and cheerfully) to commit (officially entrust ourselves) to God and man to be a witness for Christ. We must endure (hold out, last, stand, forebear) hardness as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. If we be in Christ then we stop allowing ourselves to be entangled again with the affairs of this life that we may please Him that called us. Itís time we make up our minds that we will be very diligent (persevering and careful) and seek the Lord, strive for the mastery lawfully, be a first partaker of the fruit of the Spirit, consider what God has said do and donít do as the Lord gives us understanding and put it in our hearts to remember that Jesus Christ was raised from the dead for us. The Word of God is not bound and we donít have to remain bound up in the web of evil; we can be free today. If we be dead with him we shall also live with him; if we suffer, we shall also reign with him; if we deny him he also will deny us; if we believe not know that he cannot deny himself.
Study the Word of God to show ourselves approved unto God and be a workman that need not be ashamed, but rightly dividing the Word of Truth. Shun profane and vain babblings for they will increase unto more ungodliness. Arenít we tired yet of the canker worm eating away at our hearts and minds? People are having health problems with bodies that were meant to be eternal for the Spirit of God to dwell. We are many, different in skin but one nevertheless with God. We all have desires that displease God in some way or the other but we must work on ourselves daily if we are to be the people God has made to himself and for himself. Follow righteousness, faith, charity, and peace with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Recover out of the snare of the Devil; we donít have to be bound and caught up in the web he has laid to take us captive; Jesus has made us free.
