12 What shall I render to the Lord, for all His benefits toward me?
Grace and Peace be unto you my Brothers and Sisters,
It is times like these you ask yourself, what shall I render...in other words what can I give to God for all that he has given to me. What can you give to someone who has everything? Have you ever tried to buy a gift for someone who appeared to have all the extravagances that life can offer? Certainly, that is a difficult situation to be in, trying to get a gift for a spouse, a lover or a friend who has exquisite taste but appears to be lacking nothing....what can I render? This is where the Psalmist finds himself in this very same predicament wondering...what shall I render? He starts off the Psalm by stating that he loves the Lord because he heard his cry. I believe all of us can say Amen to that. How many times have we cried out to the Lord and he heard and answered our cries? The Psalmist goes on to say and because of this, I will call upon the Lord as long as I live....can a get a witness? The Psalmist began to take inventory of his current situation and declared the pains of death is all around me and Sheol (Hell) has laid hold of me and I have found trouble and sorrow....can anyone relate to this story? Then he exclaimed, " I called on the name of the Lord; O Lord, I implore you to deliver my soul! Have you ever needed to be delivered, and all you could do is cry out..." O Lord deliver me! If you can't related to this story you will never understand the question, What shall I render? Only when God has heard your cries and delivered you from hell and high water will you ever be able to understand someone wanting to give God something for all His benefits. What shall we render, when God has done so much for us.....when I think about his goodness...my soul cries out hallelujah! What shall I render...all I can do is to give him the highest praise, Hallelujah! What shall I render? When the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, I shall render me! That is all he has ever wanted was you and I because the scripture declares, God so loved the world that he gave he only begotten son that whosoever shall believe on him shall not perish but shall have eternally life. What shall you render, you shall render yourself...as the song declares," I surrender all, all to thee my precious savior....I surrender all!"
