Oh the beginning of life together-marriage; all the ecstasy! Oh wait, is it really about the life together till death do them part or is it the all about the adrenaline rush because of the wedding-the flowers, the rings, the huge cake!
What happened between the moments when the coupleís eyes glistened with love as they recited their vows and before all people pledged to live as one and when they get so mad at each other that they decide to revoke their commitment? And most sadly, innocent kids get to pay the price for things going sour between the parents.
Marriage as a sacred institution ordained by God, to prove to the world that what God has really put together must by no means, be torn apart is also meant to bring forth offspring who will live in stable, safe and loving homes so they do not go astray.
What do we see these days? All movies portray children living in single-parent homes and are dealing with one issue or the other. These motion pictures reveal how Ďtodayís family lifeí is like. Children being shipped off to stay with the other parent every other week and during holidays so that they may feel like they still have a whole family.
It is about time we stopped going before the altar without the Ďdeath do us partí out of the picture and that thereís always the exit option when things get heated. The thing is, there is nothing like a perfect man or woman; everyone has issues so living together is to share each otherís burdens and help each other become better people with Christ acknowledged as the Head of the family, of course.
When we break marriage down, we just donít destroy the destiny of the union and drive the kidsí lives off course, we dishonor God by implying that His institution isnít as absolute and divine as He says it is. So Iím sure God isnít pleased at all when we shame Him like that.
So when it is your time to walk down the aisle before the altar, remember it is not just your spouse-to-be who is relying on you to stay by his or her side through all times but your children-to-come are also counting on you to hold it together when they arrive so they may live in a healthy, loving and God-centered family. Donít let them down and run away when problems come to play.
Marriage can bring unspeakable pain and scars but remember our God is a healer and He will restore your almost-broken-down relationship if only you will surrender it all to Him.
We all find it lovely when we see an aged couple who still look so much in love like the youth today, donít we? But if we donít take caution, that would be very rare to find in our days. Have this mind among yourselves, people!
