Mya Annora Hernandez was our 4th grandchild. Our church called her mighty Mya. She was born, Mya Annora Saalwaechter - March 5th, 2013. She was 9 weeks premature, weighting 1 lb.,12 oz.. At birth she contacted an e-coli infection from her mom.

One Sunday night after church, in her early days, when she was fighting to reach 3 pounds I had stopped by “Porter Regional Hospital” to pray for her and sing “Jesus Loves Me” to her, and I noticed that her stomach was bloated. The nurse said: “she wasn’t going potty”; to which I said: “I can fix that , I’ll pray about it.” “I know the “Great Physician” and He’ll take care of it.” As I stepped into the elevator that night I called Pastor Ron Smith and told him about her, knowing he’d be praying.

Me and my daughter returned the next night and sure enough God had fixed it, and up on the board used to record her vitals for us to see, was a note that read: “Thank you Grandpa for prayer; I went Potty tonight, Mya.”
“Thank you Lord Jesus”

Me and momma and my little soft top convertible left St. Vincennes Hospital in Indy, where she had been sent for surgery. We left the day of her surgery and headed for Florida (knowing she was in Gods Hands and our prayers)to see our son graduate from Bible Collage. It was a great trip and an enjoyable time, for which we thanked everyone for their prayers. But the cell phone call from our daughter that afternoon, left my wife in tears, such that I thought Mighty Mya had passed. The doctors had gone in hoping to fix what they thought was just a leak in her small intestine, but it was all unfixable. They tried to save and fix about 10 centimeters of her small intestine but even that had holes. On the way back home we stopped back through Indy to see her, and as I walked through that maze of babies all I could see was her feet sticking out and “Praise The LORD! they moved.”
Praise The Lord, she’s alive and kicking. Doctor said:” if we see poop coming out, into the bag they had attached on the outside of her stomach, she’d have a chance to live.” Within 3 days they knew she had a leak and there was nothing they could do.

I sent her mom and dad down last Tuesday night, with my prayers for journey mercies and a safe trip. They broke down twice in two days. I gotta work on my communication skills with Heaven. The next day me and my wife went down to Indy to see the doctors, who told us we needed to let her go. Having talked to my brother, Doctor John Saalwaechter the day before, I told Sarah and Jose, it’s your choice, but not only do I give you my permission, but I encourage you to let her go. We have to let her go that she might live.

We let her go
That she might live
Now she has the total freedom
That only God can give

We let her go
That she might heal
Now no more pain
Will she ever feel

We let her go
That she might have life
Now she’s free
From all disease and strife

We let her go
That she might see
The giver of life
Who would set her free

We let her go
That she might hear
“Come home my child
I’ll hold you near”

We let her go
That she might dwell
On streets of gold
Now she’ll ever be well

We let her go
That she might fly
Beyond the clouds
now she can’t die

We let her go
That she might rest
For we’re trusting God
That He Knows Best

We let her go
That we might give
But her precious memories
We’ll relive

Samuel L. Saalwaechter (Grandpa)

My daughters’ dream was to one day hold Mya without all of the medical devices.

It was Saturday night at my sisters house and Sarah was holding Mya, I told my son Andrew “let’s go for a walk” so we walked out to the garage and sat down. I audibly prayed for God to take her quickly. Immediately, Sarah cried out, so we went back in to see what had happened. She looked up at me with her wet eyes and said Mya’s passed. She then reached down and pulled the breathing apparatus from Mya’s noise. My sister ask Andrew to pray for us and then she went and called the hospice doctor to come to her house, and I went to call Pastor Ron to let him know, and then went back in and prayed with Sarah. The ladies then went into the front room and held Mya. Sarah rocked her a while then passed her to another of the ladies, after about 20 min. to a half hour later, someone noticed Mya was breathing. It was 7 when Sarah had told me Mya had passed, It was 10 when The doctor told us officially that she had passed.

I have it on good authority, based on the Word Of God and the words of King David, That Mighty Mya made it “Home” safe and sound, alive and well, Saturday night, June 1st, 2013 (88 days after birth). My amplified version says that the Great Physician said: “Welcome Home My Child, You touched the heart of everyone I sent you down to earth to touch and then some, job well done.”

From my house to your house and my family to yours, I wish to Thank each of you; Sarah’s friends, my family, and church family, for your prayers and support. God knows the difference you made. Sarah I leave you with this thought: Mighty Mya is with Jesus and Jesus is here with us, so Mya Annora Hernandez (Saalwaechter) can’t be very far away. “Thank You Lord Jesus!”

What a precious father and grandfather you are! Your article brought tears to my eyes as I read in silence and I smiled when I got to the end. Thanks for sharing with us. Mighty Mya is still touching lives and will continue to do so. Thank you especially for the poem which helped me greatly in dealing with the loss of the little ones we didn't get to meet. God bless you for sharing your heart with us. We pray for continued strength for Sarah and her husband as they deal with the loss and also for you, the rest of the family and all connected to Mya. May you feel His loving arms wrapped around you as you continue through this time of grieving.
