To my husband:
I was thinking of watching someone once make some taffy.... and how that reminded me of our love.
The parts I remember about the process was that after the candy was mixed...color was added into the mix, and made stripes in the unformed mass of candy...it did not have it's final shape or form yet.... that reminds me of when we first met...we were attracted to each other.
God was mixing the colors together...my small stripes to your bigger background...but as yet the relationship had no final form or shape.
Then the candy-maker would put the candy on a marble slab, and begin to pull and stretch the candy...and the more it was pulled and stretched, the smoother and shinier it got, until it was like a thick ribbon, full of the promise of what it would be.... that was like us as we got to know one another.
We had to ignore the unwanted opinions of others, and find our way with each other...with God involved in the process like the Master candy-maker, pulling and stretching us to come together as He wanted, making our colors combine and become strong and shiny, waiting for His final touch.... and then the candy-maker begins to stretch the candy until it became a very long, thin ribbon, which He then could twist and turn upon itself, taking on all different kinds of shapes, according to what he wanted to make of it...that is us now.
We are sure we are in God's hands, letting Him stretch and refine our relationship, making us flexible and strong, our colors appearing to be two, but the substance is one.... we are one...and we give ourselves and our love to Him, to fashion us into whatever shape He has in mind for us each day.... and He has made our love sweet to one another...a combination of you and I that we will cherish and treasure forever.
