The long, white glorious train of her gown trails behind the bride as she makes her way in slow , measured, deliberate steps down the aisle of the sanctuary. She is as awed as the witnesses are by what is about to happen and by the One in whose presence she will stand, and by the commitment she is soon to make to the groom. She needs to take her time because she is about to enter into something permanent, irrevocable. But why does she hurry so after the ceremony, her train now lifted by the matron of honor (who, having been there, understands) as she practically jogs back up the aisle. Now they move swiftly and eagerly to consummate their vows at last and begin their new life together. Not a moment is to be wasted, lest the world they leave behind catch up to them.
