Rest Don't Fret

Our youngest granddaughter has a preference when nap time comes. Instead of lying down alone she prefers my company.

Opening, closing her eyes and touching me are her ways of assuring I’m still there.

My love for her guarantees she will have what she needs. When she awakens, granny will still be there.

This is like the comfort and reassurance God provides for us;

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV

There will be times where it may not seem as if God is present in our situations even though He is. These feelings of His absence are usually escalated in moments of doubt.

The very comfort we seek and desperately need from God may come quicker when we choose to rest in the knowledge that He is with us always.

With this comfort comes a much-needed rest. An assurance from the weariness of wondering whether God is still with us.

It’s continually developed everyday through trial and struggle.

In retrospect, the fact that God was there becomes more apparent.

Each time our granddaughter visits the time it takes for her to fall asleep becomes shorter. She will have soon been here enough to realize I never leave her.

Understanding He has been there for us so many times before, resting in Him becomes easier.

The more we believe and the less we doubt God will never forsake us, the more confident we become in Him.

Contemplate the difficult times in your life and you will see the evidence of His continual presence. You might start to see Him during the good times too!
