James 3
New King James Version (NKJV)
7 For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. 8 But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
Grace and peace be unto you my brothers and sisters,
Every animal species known to man has been subdue and tame or sub-come under the power of mankind. However; there is one thing that man has not been able to tame and that is his tongue. The bible declares that life and death is in the power of the tongue but somehow mankind have not been able to harness this power, it seems as if he only has temporary power or restraint over his own tongue. Do you know anyone whose tongue could use a bit more taming? Why is it that we find ourselves saying things that we ought not say? Talking about other people business which is none of our business. There is something about good gossip that makes you want to tell someone even if you have not verified the facts. The bible describes the tongue in James 3:6," And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell." The tongue can be a tool of the devil, it defiles the whole body and can be used in a very destructive way.9 With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. 10 Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so (James 3:9-6). The misuse of the tongue is one of the churches major problems, it's not so much the devil but tongues of those who praise God and persecute their brothers and sisters. It is an anomaly that blessing and cursing comes from the same mouth. These things ought not to be so therefore; watch what you thinking because your thoughts become words and your words will eventually be spoken. You do not want to be guilty of speaking curses upon your brothers and sisters thus defiling yourselves.
