The only thing I’m afraid of is not being God’s will. Notice I didn’t say ‘doing’. He wants us to ‘be’ then ‘do’ all for His glory.
I used to be afraid of everything. If someone didn’t speak to me, I felt rejected. When I compared myself with beautiful; and, might I add, skinny women---I sensed loneliness. Who would love me since I’m not pretty? All the measurements I took of myself were external.
I realized I needed to do a lot more ‘pondering these things in my heart’ than fretting the uncertain (Luke 2:19).
King David knew a great deal about the subject of fear “The Lord is my light and salvation---whom shall I fear or dread? The Lord is the Refuge and Stronghold of my life---of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1 Amplified). The psalmist went through the valley of death’s shadow and feared no evil (Psalm 23:4).
Jesus may have reached for Psalm 56 as He told His followers not to be afraid of those who kill the body; but to fear the One who after He kills, has power to cast it into hell (Luke 12:4-5 NKJV). “For You have delivered my life from death, yes, and my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of life and of the living” (Psalm 56:13 Amplified).
The phrase Jesus spoke more than any other while He walked on earth was ‘be not afraid or fear not’. Before Jesus went home, He told the disciples, “Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let it be afraid…I go to prepare a place for you…that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:1-3 NKJV).
Absolute trust is the shortest path to pleasing the heart of God. When we worry it leads to paralyzing fear. Worry and fear are sins, because they prove we aren’t placing trust in our Unseen Provider.
Let’s stand today on the shoulders of our spiritual forefathers. May we completely surrender every doubt to Christ---leaning hard upon King David’s staff, because the Son of David made it possible.
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
