On our way to the park for some play and a snack
We had apples and cokes in a brown paper sack.
He sat by the curb on that bright sunny day.
All the neighborhood wished he would just walk away.
The cardboard sign that he held in his hand
Caused us to pause in the day we had planned.
“Homeless” it read, and “Hungry” besides;
No one had stopped to even offer him rides.
I praised God that I wasn’t homeless or broke,
Living on the edge, without any hope.
My heart cried out, “Lord, what can we do?
Let us do for him what we would do for you.
We can’t take him home—it wouldn’t be right.
Where can we take him to shelter this night?”
Jesus said, “Don’t fret! I’ll find him a bed.
Your part is to see that he has been fed.”
So we stopped right there at the side of the road
To pay back a meal that to Jesus we owed.
“We haven’t a steak or a burger to share,
But we want you to know that we really do care.
So we give you our bag of apples and cokes.
And in the Name of Jesus, we offer you hope.
We will pray to the Father, and He will supply
All of your needs if to Him you will cry.”
With a grin on his face he accepted the food.
“Praise you, Jesus! At last someone who’s good!
Kind people for you I will pray every day
That apples and cokes keep coming your way!”
went on our way with a glorious shout!
And apples and cokes----we are never without!
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
