No matter how much we try to avoid it, loss is one thing we are all going to experience. It could be a loss of employment, financial security, health or the death of a loved one.
The difficulty we experience in moving forward from these events will naturally be challenging.
Adjusting to the occurrence itself generally presents the biggest obstacle.
Knowing that you have to find a way to move forward yet wondering how.
Moving forward is not only a necessity, it’s also how we will gain much needed strength.
“The righteous keep moving forward,
and those with clean hands become stronger and stronger”.
Job 17:9 New Living Translation
Job was a man that endured a closely spaced series of catastrophic events. To make matters worse, he didn’t exactly have the most understanding friends. Yet in the midst of his pain he still managed to think about moving forward.
The mind can be our greatest nemesis during times of loss.
When we give too much thought and focus only on the loss itself it becomes a hindrance to moving forward.
Changing those thoughts to an assessment of the situation can be more productive and beneficial.
Assessment helps us with acceptance. This helps clear the mind.
Having a clear mind helps us to see how God is taking us through the healing process and how He is providing the guidance needed to move forward. The more we trust and follow His guidance the stronger we will become.
