Not Perfect, But Called
By Karen Pourbabaee

ďBy this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and become My disciples.Ē John 15:8

Discipulus. Itís the Latin root word for learner or pupil. In English, itís disciple, meaning a learner or pupil of a given teacher. The word implies an acceptance, in the mind and in oneís practical life, of the views and practices of said teacher. The most extensive use of the word in the New Testament is with reference to the followers of Christ. Often the original Twelve Apostles were referred to as the Disciples.

Jesus called each of the original twelve Disciples in the New Testament individually. The call to discipleship has always been a personalized call. It is a call to a personal relationship with Him. Have you answered that call? If you have, just know that itís never a done deal; itís forever a work in progress. Have you avoided responding to your call to discipleship with Jesus? Say yes with your life!

Discipleship then becomes your life-long response to that call and a process of following Christ and striving to live out His gospel in your life. Humbling yourself to the rank of pupil. Listening and applying the word of the Master Teacher. You never really arrive, but you constantly strive. Following as best as you can by His grace. His true disciple is not perfect, but called.

Dear Jesus,
I know I will never be perfect, but You have called me to follow You. I will answer yes with my life! Help me to become a humble pupil, listening and applying Your Word. Bless me with patience, strength, and wisdom so I may pass the tests of life and give glory to Your Name. Amen
