-Ichabod, the glory has departed! -Yeah, I read about him, but there was hope for glory yet. -How so? -The name actually means "Where is glory?" -No, it literally means something like "no glory." -But I read in the margin of my Bible the alternate meaning "Where is glory" in 1 Samuel 4, as if he was still seeking it. -Do you want to be a marginal scholar then? -Is that how scholars are marginalized? -I won't declare you marginalized just yet, I need to check out one other possibility, you may not be too far off target. -You mean there's still hope for me like there was for the seeker Ichabod? -Maybe, just maybe. -Gosh, thanks. (Think about it though, the little guy lost his mom, dad, uncle, and grandfather the day he was born as his nation lost the manifest presence of God, and, if all that wasn't enough, he was saddled with such a name as Ichabod! If he could dig and be dug out of a hole that deep then there's hope for any of us.)
