Colonel Wilson had an unusual name. He may have had a grandfather namesake who was a colonel at one time. When he joined the military and was introduced to his superior officer he said, saluting, "Major Evans, Colonel Wilson reporting, sir!" "If you are a colonel, Wilson, I should be saluting you." "No, Sir, you don't understand, I'm a private but my name is Colonel. Then are you correcting a superior officer, private? "Yes, Sir, I guess I am." "You're busted, private, I don't care if you are a Colonel!" And so began inauspiciously there, the dubious and utterly forgettable military career of Private Colonel Wilson.
