And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom and the Grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of God was upon Him (Luke 2:40 AMP).
Luke wrote this statement about Jesus—after explaining Jesus’ circumcision and Mary’s trip to the Temple for the Purification Protocol by the law. Looking carefully at this statement we immediately see it’s the key or starting point to Operating in the 2nd Dimension of God’s Grace.
Hi, Faith-writers, I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to share God’s Word with you. We are going to take a closer look at the Gift of Grace and how it can motivate us to become the Powerful servants that God Anointed us to be.
In the last article, “The 4 Dimensions or Levels of God’s Grace” we spoke about each Level of God’s Grace we are able to experience or be able to grow into that next Level or Dimension of Grace. What the Holy Spirit is leading me to teach in detail is the Biblical example of Jesus’ growth that explains the maturing process we need to apply to grow into men and women of God. Luke said;
1. Jesus grew
2. Jesus became strong in spirit (in His human spirit) by the Help of the Holy Spirit.
3. Jesus was filled with Wisdom.
4. And the Grace (the Favor and spiritual blessing) of God was upon Him (Luke 2:40 AMP).
The reason Jesus was able to—1. Grow. 2. Become strong in spirit. 3. And be filled with Wisdom; was because the Grace (the Favor and spiritual blessing) of God was upon Him. In other words, if it wasn’t for the Grace (the Favor and spiritual blessing of God) Jesus would have been just another religious Pharisees, or Sadducee. It was the Grace (the Favor and spiritual blessing) that God had upon Jesus’ life that enabled Him to grow spiritually and be filled with Wisdom to do the Divine Will of God on the earth.
It’s the Same Grace
The same Grace that God had upon Jesus’ life at this stage of His life is the same Grace we have on our life when we became Born-Again Christians. How is that you might ask? Well, at this point of Jesus’ life He was only a few days old. Jesus was circumcised 8 days after He was born (See Circumcision Process Leviticus 12:3 and Luke 1:59 NKJV); and the purification at the Temple for Mary was done 40 days after the birth of Jesus (See, The Redemption of the first born Exodus 13:2, 11-16; Numbers 18:15, 16).
Then Luke went on to narrate Jesus’ spiritual growth and by what means did Jesus grow by. Remember, Jesus did not operate in (Great Grace—the 4th Level or 4th Dimension of Grace) until He was 30 years old. At this point in time Luke was being Inspired by the Holy Spirit to write about the spiritual growth process that Jesus experienced from birth—to—8 days old, from 8 days-to- 40 days old. Then Luke went into the story of Jesus at the age of 12 years old in the Temple during the Passover (Luke 2:40-52 NKJV).
Luke wrote, and Jesus increased in wisdom (in broad and full understanding) and in statured and years, and in Favor with God and man (Luke 2:52 AMP). Luke mentioned this after the story of Jesus in the Temple at the age of 12, indicating that this is what Jesus did from the age of 12-to-30 years old; He grew.
Luke pointed out the key area and great importance of growth (that is, spiritual growth). We know that Jesus grew physically, and mentally as a child, adolescent and pre-teen. However, Luke high-lighted the area of growth that was very important—Jesus grew spiritually and was filled with Wisdom (Luke 2:40 AMP).
Then Luke was Inspired to share a story of Jesus at the Temple sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers (Luke 2:46-47 NKJV). Then when Jesus’ parents realized that He wasn’t with them after 3 days they went back to the Temple and found Him in the midst of these Teachers. Jesus said something every interesting to Mary and Joseph; How is it that you had to look for Me? Did you not see and know that it is necessary [as a duty] for Me to be in My Father’s house and [occupied] about My Father’s business? (Luke 2:49-49 AMP).
Grace on Level # 2—the Favor and Spiritual Blessing
The First Dimension of Grace is (God’s Unmerited Favor). This Level of Grace is demonstrated to us before we were saved or Born-Again. In other words, we did not earn or deserve this Level of Grace. God just provided the Grace freely to us because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the Cross and His shed blood. And when we accepted Jesus as Our Lord and Savior we experienced God’s Amazing Grace. Paul explained that it was this Level of God’s Amazing Grace that we were saved (Ephesians 2: 8 AMP).
The Second Dimension of Grace is (the Favor and Blessing) of God’s Grace imparted to us to grow spiritually like Jesus did. Notice how Luke wrote;
1. That Jesus grew.
2. And became strong in spirit;
3. Filled with Wisdom;
4. And the Grace (the Favor and spiritual blessing) was upon Him (Luke 2:40 AMP).
5. Jesus sat in the Midst of Teachers.
6. Listening to them.
7. Asking them questions.
8. All who heard Him speak were astonished at His Understanding and answers (Luke 2:46-47 NKJV)
9. Jesus was there for 3 days.
10. Jesus said to Mary I must be about My Father’s Business (Luke 2:48-49 AMP).
Are we growing spiritually? Are we filling ourselves with God’s Wisdom? We have the Favor and Blessing of God’s Grace to do it! Are we sitting in the midst of strong Bible Teachers that can instruct us in the Grace of God? Are we closely listening to them? Are we asking the right questions? Are we speaking clearly enough that people can be astonished at the knowledge we are picking up? And the Biblical answers we are sharing? Are we spending enough time with sound Bible Teachers? Are we about Our Father’s Business? If not, we need to follow Jesus’ example to Grow Spiritually!
The Grace that Motivates
When Paul wrote a letter to Titus he explained what this Dimension of God’s Grace actually does in the life of a new believer. Paul said, for the Grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men (v. 11).
It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness, and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age (v.12) (Titus 2:11-12 NIV).
The Favor and spiritual blessing we received is design to motivate us to live a godly lifestyle. It will teach us to read, pray, study, and go to services to learn more of God. This Dimension of Grace is persuasive in leading us in the right direction. It’s God’s gift that was impart to us to do His Divine Will on earth. Jesus was Supernaturally Inspired to sit in the midst of Bible Teachers and remain there. While Mary and Joseph and the rest of their family and acquaintances left to go home. Jesus had a unique hunger and thirst for the things of God. We have that same Gift of Grace operating in us to steer us to do the Will of God.
We may have strayed away, back-slide or fall, but the Gift keeps us Divinely Motivated to come back. This is why we feel the way we feel when we encounter difficulties we go to God. A tragedy strikes we go to God. A situation gone wrong we go to God. A set-back caused us heartache and pain we go to God in search of comfort, healing and restoration. God’s Grace and spiritual blessing will stop at nothing to keeps us in the straight and narrow. God knew what He was getting Himself into when He saved us. He knew we were a mess…He knew we would back-slide, miss it, and fall short of His Glory but He still manages to Teach us to say “No” to ungodliness, No to worldly passions, No to the night clubs, No to illegal drug trade to earn deceitful riches, No to pornography, No to drug use, and No to anything that will violate His Righteousness.
He did not leave us without the Power to live a holy lifestyle. He grants us the same Measure of Grace to operate as Jesus did. While everyone goes home from church services you’re there desiring to hear more. While everyone is fighting to leave the parking lot you’re there questioning the Pastor about the message he preached and trying to look further into the topic that was shared. This is Operating on the Second Dimension of God’s Grace. May God bless you to realize what you have inside…You have a Gift…You have the Grace…You have the Favor…You have the spiritual Blessing to take you there…to fill you with Wisdom and to grant you the Divine Understanding you’ve been looking for…to make you aware that you are a new creation in Christ Jesus old things are passed away and all things inside of you has become new…You have a new life now…and you have the Power inside of you to live it in Jesus’ name, Amen.
