“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord” 1 Corinthians 12:4-5 NLT
Paul addressed the Corinthian church regarding their use of spiritual gifts. Although some gifts appeared more attractive than others, Paul recognized that all of them were given by the same God and should be exercised in unity for His glory.
In the same way each one of us is blessed with special gifts from our heavenly Father which should be used in service to other people in need. (1 Corinthians 12:7 NLT) Perhaps some of us are blessed with gifts in music so that we can encourage and engage other people in worshiping God. Perhaps some of us are given skills in computing and writing which can be used to present God’s message to the needy in various ways. Others are blessed with skills in leading bible studies and talks to teach other people about the truth of God.
There are many more different gifts which God gives to each of us. All gifts are important and should be united for advancing God’s work on Earth. Therefore we must take up the responsibility. We need to avoid neglecting our God given abilities or utilizing them for selfish pursuits. Our time in this world is limited so we should always strive to glorify God through selfless service to Him and others. Have you been making the most of your gifts lately? How will you help the lives of the people around you through the tools God has given you?
