1 Chronicles 4:9-10 ‘Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, “I gave birth to him in pain.” Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.’
This very brief account of the life of Jabez inspired each disciple to ask God for more, igniting the passion and zeal to go beyond and move the boundary lines in every aspect of our lives. God desires to bless His children, and it is up for grab if we are only to ask for it. Like Jabez, He cried out in desperation to God to bless him indeed! To take what is rightfully his as a child of God for Jabez knew God. He knew that God is powerful and generous enough to lavish him with more of His blessings - “rumaragasang pagpapala” Then he ask, that God would extend his territory. He wanted more, he wanted to go beyond and govern.
Similarly, we must ask God to enlarge, extend our relationship, finances, dreams, and whatever it is that God has placed in our hearts. God desires to multiply our resources. Thirdly, Jabez asked that the mighty hand of God be upon him. For as God begin to bless and enlarge our territory, we have to be reminded all the time that it is God who gave us the ability to produce wealth and for us to remain humble and obedient to His will. Lastly, Jabez asked for protection. The same thing in our journey as disciples of Christ we need to be protected, undercover, from all temptations and harm that the enemy will plot against us.
At the last part of that brief account, God did not fail Jabez. It says, ‘And God granted his request.’ Amazing, isn’t it? How God longs and desires to give us more, if we would only humble ourselves before Him and PRAY.
