DO NOT FRET- BECAUSE OF EVIL-DOERS
A SUMMARY OF (Psalm 37:1-40)
One need only read the local newspaper, tune into the latest TV drive-by news release, or surf the internet, to draw a parallel between today's current events and Psalm 37. Yes, there's nothing new under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9)
In this Psalm, written by King David, or possible one of his close companions, the writer gives a very good example of evil people. People that had everything they wanted, apart from God. They hurt poor people that did not have very much.(2 Timothy 3:1-5,12,14) They did what they wanted and they did what they liked. Nobody stopped them. (Judges 17:6) Sounds familiar, right !
This mind-set caused the psalmist to began to feel very angry. However, being angry failed to give him much help, apart from God.(Romans 12:17,19) Then, he begin to remember that one day God would put things right. (1 Peter 2:15) The psalmist just had to wait for that day.(Hebrews 10:35-39)
Are you also waiting for that day, a day to get "even" ? Just Relax and let "God" have His way.(1 Cor 11:31)
Remember ! Jesus said, "Good things will happen to the meek. One day the earth will be theirs". (Matthew 5: 5) The meek are people that let someone teach them. In this Psalm that someone is God.)
JUST BE PATIENT- (Psalms 37:1-11)
How does one become patient, while waiting on God. How do you stop yourself from getting angry because godless people have everything that they want? (Matthew 5:45) Simply put we should:
- • trust in the LORD, by asking for His help.
- • do good things for others.
- • enjoy what the land provides.
We are happy with the LORD, when we "trust and obey". (Proverbs 3:5). We must just wait for God’s timing.
THE UNGODLY WILL NOT ENDURE-(Psalms 37:12-20)
The old country parsons once said, " I know about that sweet by-and-by. It's the nasty now-and-now that I am worried about."
One day, probably in the near future, God will mysteriously, and without prior notice suddenly separate the godly from the ungodly, (1 Cor 15:51-52) ( 1 Thess 5:16-17) in what is referred to as the "rapture" Then, Jesus will come back to the earth and Christians, as well as the Jews, will receive their inheritance.(1 Cor 2:9) However, the godless people will not receive an inheritance. (2 Peter 2:9)
GOD WILL HELP HIS RIGHTEOUS-(Psalms 37:21-31)
There is a distinct different between the godly and the ungodly. (Malachi 3:18) The godless man will not give back what he ought, but the righteous man does not ask for it back. (Psalm 1:1) .
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE RIGHTEOUS-(Psalms37:32-40)
The Lord will never let the righteous man remain in the hand of the godless man. The LORD will never say that the righteous man is wrong when people are saying that he is wrong".(Psalm 125:3)
So, what are we to do, in these troubled evil times. Admittedly, we all face needs beyond our understanding. Why the earthquakes, the floods, the uncontrolled fires, the civil disobedience, etc. ? We must not panic or give up in defeat, because God is still on the throne. We must continue to have faith and trust in God. You see, calling on God is the key. Once we do this, we must let go and let God have His way. (Psalm 91:1-16) God's word doesn't promise all will be "smooth sailing". There will be some bumps along the way. But we will come through these tough times, the better for it. ( Isaiah 41:10)
Good luck and God Bless.
