Why The World Cannot Receive

"The Spirit of Truth which the world cannot receive." (John 14:17) Recently. some"friends" posted their acerbic comments on my post about God's Word on homosexuality. Some charged I was "judging" while some prayed "that I will find out the truth." I rarely check pages but I had to see where they are coming from, (point of view) so I checked their pages. One believed in Buddha and all religions being the same, the other was an agnostic and was a practicing gay, the others were pro- gay. That explains the rant and the raving. I found it futile to debate and discuss, since there was no common ground for discussion and the side remarks ("judging", "Christian example" etc.) were outside of the issues and I think these do not merit a reply. I have blocked them for their own good and their peace of mind. The Bible says "do not throw your pearls" to dogs. Words of God are pearls, we do not present them to those who will "trample" upon them with mockery and insolence. Jesus already said men will "hate us" because of Him (Matthew 10:22) "All men will hate you because of Me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved." All of us will give account for all the words we say or write. "But I tell you that all men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned." (Matthew12:36-37) Last Sunday at worship, I came across the Bible verses that answered my question why people resist the Word of God and why they try to negate its Truth. 2 Timothy 3: 12- 13 says: "Everyone who wants to live a godly life will be persecuted, while evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived." "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness so that the man of God may thoroughly equipped for every good work." ( 2 Timothy 3:16) I. Godlessness in The Last Days "But there will be terrible times in the last days. People will b lovers of selves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient, ungrateful, unholy, without control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God- having a form of godliness but denying its power." (2Timothy 3: 1-5). "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. (2 Timothy 4:3) II. Men Are Blinded By Satan "The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved." For this reason, God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe a lie ..." (2 Thessalonians 1:9-10) "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the Gospel..." (2 Corinthians 4:4) III. The Holy Spirit is Absent in Them "This is how you recognize the Spirit of God: every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and is now in the world. " (1 John 4: 2-3) "They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God, whoever knows God listens to us. This is how we recognize the Spirit of Truth and the spirit of falsehood." (1 John 4: 5-6) "We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit Who is of God, that we may understand what God has freely given us." (1Corinthians 2:12) "The man without the Spirit does accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him and he cannot understand them because they are spiritually discerned. (2 Corinthians 2:14) ........................................ "Both the sons of this world and the sons of God have been baptized into a spirit, but the spirit of the world and the Spirit of God which dwells in the hearts of twice-born men are as far apart as heaven and hell. Not only are they so opposite each other, but they are sharply antagonistic to each other as well. To a son of the earth the things of the Spirit are either ridiculous, in which case he is amused, or they are meaningless, in which case he is bored." (A.W.
