I enjoy gardening. I love watching things grow and thrive under my loving and tender care. I am one of those people who will find something to do in the garden every because I have come to understand that caring for my plants is another way to connect with God. Through gardening, Godís power and glory is always displayed right before my eyes. Gardening reminds me of my smallness in contrast to His greatness, and moves me to face my helplessness without His care.
When I put a seed or a plant in the ground, I give it the light, water and nutrients it requires, and most often than not it grows. Gardening allows me to discern the Creatorís majestic vastness and gives me peace and assurance that if He cares for the lilies of the field, He cares for me even more and delights in my growth and praise. For in Him I live and move and exist (Acts 17:28 NLT). So as I delight in His creation, I savor the Creatorís presence!
Which bings me to the point I am trying to make: The other morning while tending my plants and observing how beautifully they are responding to my love, I was invited to release all troubling thoughts of fear, loneliness, and lack. Therefore, of this one thing I am certain: God is never far from me and I am thankful for His anointing presence. Nothing can separate me from His love!
So my friends, consider the lilies of the field and learn thoroughly how they grow: they neither toil nor spin. Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these (Matthew 6:28-29, AMP).
