What's New
Much More…! (Luke 11:11-13)

“If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

There are many precious people who have been crying out for more of the things of God, and this message is especially for you. You are on the brink of a huge outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon your life! While Jesus specifically speaks in these verses about the Father giving us the Holy Spirit, these words apply to anything we are seeking from our Abba God! This may be a familiar scripture which you have read many times in the past, but receive these threads of truth today and let them become a key from Daddy’s hand to yours.

1)You receive when you ask. The verses which precede this passage are: “So I say to you, ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” We receive when we ask (or when someone else asks) and we find when we seek. Our Father God made the first move when He gave His only begotten Son to us. He now looks for our response to all the amazing blessing Jesus has made available to us. He is calling us to ask and keep on asking, to knock and expect the doors to be opened. I believe that a lot of people have not received what they longed for simply because they have not asked. You can begin to see the changes that your heart has hoped for when you lift up your heart and your hands and pray!

2)Abba only gives good gifts and never something bad or harmful. There are people who are hungry for the Holy Spirit, or for more of the things of Heaven, but they are held back by a concern that they will receive some bad spirit or evil experience when they open themselves up to the spiritual realm. Jesus is assuring us today that if they ask for more of the Holy Spirit we will not be disappointed. Our Father gives us “good gifts”. He only has the best for His kids. When we ask for the fullness of His Spirit, we surely receive! There are no rude shocks or nasty surprises with our Abba. He has no tricks up His sleeve. His desire is always to nourish, to bless, to build up and strengthen His kids. The good thing we seek is what we will receive.

3)He is more generous than any earthly parent. If you are a parent, you know how much you love to bless your kids, to give them happy surprises, and meet their needs. It is a joy to have them come to you and share their dreams, and to help make them happen. Jesus says here “If you know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give…” Ephesians 3:20 reminds us that our Daddy God loves to do exceedingly abundantly above what we could ever ask or imagine. There have been multiple times in my life when I have asked for something and been blown away by God’s generous response. He is a generous Dad who multiplied more loaves and fishes than 5000+ people needed, and who has blessed us with more sky than we could ever see or appreciate! While Abba is God and knows what is best for us, if more of us saw Him for His generosity, we would expect to be blessed, and ask more freely. He says to us today: “Let me fill your life with My goodness. Try me and see. Ask and you will receive.”

4)God wants to give you something that is even better than what you asked. There are many precious people who may not have ever gone beyond asking for their material needs (Jesus mentions bread, egg, fish), or for their families, or what they need for the achievement of their career or ministry goals etc, which of course our Abba happily provides. However, He is calling us into another dimension of seeking after Him for the heavenly things He has called us to press into. The apostle John wrote about how he experienced a door standing open in heaven and heard a voice saying to him “Come up here and I will show you things which must take place after this.” (Revelations 4:1). There are realms of the Spirit which God wants us to taste, experience and enter into, but He asks us to ask. He wants us to seek after the things of God. He wants us to knock on the door until it is opened.

Dear friend, the Holy Spirit reminds us today that we are sons and daughters, and we have a loving Father who loves to answer prayer and loves to bless us. James 1:17 says: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” I pray that every wrong perception of Abba is broken off your heart and mind today and that you will see Him for the big, generous and awesome Daddy He is. I pray that you will believe, ask and receive everything you seek because He is calling you into closer and deeper relationship with Him. Be blessed, and walk in Abba’s love and abundance today and always, in Jesus’ name, amen.
