The Word is a Lamp and a Light
Before we were saved or Born again we were living in the Kingdom of Darkness (See, Ephesians 5:8 NKJV); our thoughts were dark, our ideas were clouded, our ignorance about God and His Divine plan for our lives was the furthest thing from our minds. The calling of God was unknown to us and we struggled through life trying to figure out our purpose for being here. We would easily be frustrated for no apparent reason and fail to see the big picture of why we are going through a trial, then a test, after that a temptation, after that a tribulation thinking that life is just unfair and we can never get a break.
The fact is darkness is all around us, when were home it creeps in, when we go to work its going along for the ride, when we arrive at work its waiting for us to challenge us to have a bad day. No matter where we are or where we go darkness is relentless on keeping the lights out and the darkness in. However, the Good News is Our Heavenly Father has delivered us from the power of darkness (See, Colossians 1:12-15 NKJV).
Hi Faith-writers, Iím grateful once again to be back to share Godís Word with you. We are still on the topic of ďThe Word of GodĒ, this teaching will continue to show us the importance of the Word of God so we may be informed, enlightened, and inspired to apply the Word so that we may experience the blessings that are available to us in Scripture. Picking up our teaching in Psalm 119, we have a powerful proclamation made by the Psalmist that will bring us to experience the Word of God in a new LIGHT:
The Psalmist said, Your Word is a LAMP to my feet and a LIGHT to my path (Psalm 119:105 NKJV).
The Lamp to my feet
There are 2 important points that the Psalmist highlighted;
1. The Word is a LAMP to his feet.
2. The Word is a LIGHT to his path.
The 2 points that the Psalmist made are very clear in the application of the Word of God. The Psalmist said the Scriptures ILLUMINATES who he is as a believer and it also LIGHTS up his path so he can see where God is leading him. Many Christians are stuck on level oneóthat is, they are still trying to gain some LIGHT of who they are in Christ. A believer must begin to understand who they are in Christ before they move on to the next level of understanding Godís Will for their lives and follow that path by the instructions given to us in the Word of God (The Holy Bible).
Connecting the Dots of Scripture
As I read Psalm 119:105 NKJV years ago and began studying it. I found some related Scriptures in Psalms and Proverbs that gives us some steps that David and Solomon revealed to us that can help us put this passage of Scripture into practice. Iím also convinced that most of Psalm 119 was written by David. Although some Theologians donít know who wrote Psalm 119. If you carefully read Psalm 18 and 19 and compare it with Psalm 119 they have a similar writings. However, David and Solomon gave us some detailed encounters of how God lit up their lives.
David and Solomon gave us some insight to how God enlightens us.
David said, For You will LIGHT my lamp (candle in KJV); the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness (Psalm 18:28 NKJV)
Solomon said; The spirit of man is the lamp (candle in KJV) of the Lord, searching all the inner depths of his heart (Proverbs 20:27 NKJV).
David said God will enlighten our human spirits. Solomon said God will search deep within our being through our human spirits. The Psalmist said Your Word is a LAMP to my feet (Psalm 119:105 NKJV)
God enlightens our human spirits by the Word of God. In other words, we have to receive or accept the Word of God deep within our human spirits for it to take root and begin to enlighten us to Godís Will. The Psalmist made it clearer by saying: The entrance of Your Words gives LIGHT; it gives understanding to the simple (Psalm 119:130 NKJV).
5 Levels to Experiencing Godís Word
A long time ago when I was meditating on the Word of God the Holy Spirit revealed something to me when it came to experiencing the Word of God in my personal life. I came across many Scriptures and I somewhat came to an understanding of how to apply the Word of God, but I never knew how to explain it to someone else.
However, one day the Spirit of God (THE TEACHER) said, the Bible is a BOOK, that to an average person it is filled with stories that some may read and consider it as a another paperback chilling novel. Itís just filled with so much INFORMATION and FACTS, but the BIBLE is more than that! In order for someone to experience the Word of God they must go through 5 levels that only I (THE HOLY SPIRIT) can take them through.
Level OneóReading the INFORMATION and FACTS written in the BIBLE.
Level TwoóIs Receiving Divine REVELATION of the INFORMATION and FACTS in the BIBLE.
Level ThreeóIs Sensing the Divine INSPIRATION the Motivation to Apply the Word of God.
Level FouróIs the APPLICATION (that is, Prayer for Wisdom to Apply the Word of God along with Fasting if we are led to APPLY it) to experience the Blessing.
And Finally, Level Fiveóis experiencing the MANIFESTATION of the Word of God that will result in the change in our lives or being a channel of blessing to others.
Hereís how the Psalmist, David and Solomon said it that confirms the 5 levels and the process in which the believer encounters.
1. The Word is a Lamp (Psalm 119:105a NKJV) Scriptures illuminates--INFORMATION
2. The Entrance of thy Words gives Light (Psalm 119:130a KJV) Entrance is REVELATION coming into our human Born-again spirits when we receive the Word of God as coming from God.
3. It gives Understanding unto the simple (Psalm 119:130b KJV) It grants us understanding thatís uniquely INSPIRATIONAL. We will be inspired to experience it.
4. For thou wilt LIGHT my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness (Psalm 18:28b KJV) It will motivate us to make the appropriate APPLICATION after weíve been given more light to proceed in an area we failed to see before because of the darkness.
5. And a LIGHT unto my path (Psalm 119:105b KJV). We will experience the MANIFESTATION of Godís Word to continue in the path of righteousness.
Whatever topic we are studying, whatever Scripture we have read, we will not get passed the initial verse or topic unless we mentally chew on what we just have read until it becomes Revelation (Spiritual Reality to us). Then it will turn into Inspiration (a Divine Impression in our hearts) our human Born-again spirits to want to look into this concept or passage of Scripture more closely. Then we will be driven to experience these things (Divine Application) that is, Prayer, Fasting, Reading Godís Word specifically in-line with the topic of ďThe Word of GodĒ. Finally, we will experience the (Manifestation of the Word of God) come alive in us as we receive it.
After this happens we can proclaim like the Psalmist, Your Word is a LAMP to my feet and a LIGHT to my path. Amen. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and experience it. Hallelujah!
