Romans 1:29-32 Being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them. NKJV
We saw the last time how the Apostle Paul by inspiration of God the Holy Spirit revealed that a part of God’s Wrath on living humanity is to give them up or over to a mind unable to discern the difference between what is good and evil in God’s sight. Paul calls this type of mind morally reprobate, unapproved, rejected, and worthless. It does not take a rocket scientist to conclude that those given over to this mind cannot produce any sort of lifestyle that is honoring or pleasing to God. Therefore, we saw that Paul documented for us how humanity given over to this debased mind turned 180 degrees away from what was normal, nice, and natural in the God designed and ordained order of sexual behavior to lust after and engage in sexual activity with the same sex. Our Lord Jesus Christ said, Matthew 6:22-23 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” NKJV
In the people given up by God to a reprobate mind is utter and complete spiritual darkness that manifest itself in the vile passions described by the Apostle Paul in Romans 1:26-27. It is very easy for each one of us and all people everywhere to say, “Well certainly this sort of mind does not apply to me because I have never partaken in the vile passions of homosexuality.” The Holy Spirit leading the Apostle Paul in the writing of this letter now known as the “Book of Romans” fully anticipated sinful human beings everywhere (not just those in Rome during the time of Paul’s writing) making this declaration in their hearts and minds. Now Paul continues on to say that all of humanity given over to this worthless mind are filled with all unrighteousness, and God the Holy Spirit inspires Paul to go on to include 22 additional vile sins that spring forth from the heart of unregenerate humanity. These sins are a mixture of the sins of the flesh and the sins of the spirit and every human being can find themselves in this list (Romans 3:23) and all of these sins are equally repulsive to a Just and Holy God. First up on the list are fornicators, as if we thought Paul was through with the sexual sin when he called out homosexuality, but now he includes fornication/sexual immorality which is all sex outside of marriage (pornography, masturbation, adultery, incest, prostitution, pedophilia, etc.) between a man and woman (1 Thessalonians 4:3).
Next is wickedness which means those who plot sin and depravity or harm to others (Proverbs 30:20). It stands that covetousness follows which means to be insatiably desiring of wealth by any greedy or fraudulent means like the many false prophets in our world (2 Peter 2:3). The unregenerate heart is filled with maliciousness which is just down right badness internally to the point of wanting to inflict physical pain on another for no apparent reason (3 John 1:10). They are full of envy which means being jealous and ill willed, resentful, and spiteful to another person or group of people (Job 5:2 & Proverbs 14:30). The unregenerate heart is filled with murder in it wanting and executing literally the taking of another human life (Psalm 94:6 & 1 John 3:15). Strife in the heart is always seeking for a quarrel or contention or argument (Proverbs 26:21). Deceit is in the heart of the reprobate always being wiley and using guile to trick others for their advantage, an attribute of every false prophet (Psalm 10:7 & Proverbs 12:20 & Romans 3:13 & Colossians 2:8). Malignity is just evil-mindedness where the mind is always consumed or fixed upon thinking and doing that which is evil or mischievous (that which deliberately causes harm or damage to people or property) (Psalm 36:4). The whisperer is perhaps one of the most evil of all because he or she is the one that attacks the reputation of another person in secret (Proverbs 16:28). The backbiter is the paternal twin of the whisperer except that he or she who backbites will talk against or slander another person in private or in public it makes no difference to the heart filled with this evil (Psalm 15:3 & Psalm 31:13 & Proverbs 10:18).
The hater of God is obviously the atheist, but it is also all who do not want God to rule supreme in and over their daily lives (Luke 19:27). The despiteful person is a violent person desiring to injure others physically or to insult them with words (Psalm 7:16 & Proverbs 16:29). The pride of man is the most hidden of all sins but it is the root of all the other sins for it is the elevating of ones on self above others and this is one sin that God hates (Proverbs 6:16-17 & Luke 18:9-14). The boaster is the one who brags about his or her own goodness above others who are not quite as good as they perceive themselves (Proverbs 16:25 & Ephesians 2:8-9). There are those with consciences so seared that they become inventors of evil things that is discovering or contriving new ways or methods to carry out evil and harmful actions upon others (Genesis 37:20 & Psalm 21:11). We have been privy to the disobedience of children to their parents in every generation (Exodus 20:12). The heart bent to do evil has no understanding of that which is holy and good from God’s Nature (Jeremiah 5:21 &Psalm 10:4 & Proverbs 4:19). There are those who cannot keep their word ever and are untrustworthy (Psalm 92:6). The reprobate mind is without even the most basic of affections toward those of his or her own flesh and blood but will indeed inflict evil upon even them (Genesis 37:23-28). The person or persons that are implacable are the ones always breaking agreements or truce breaking with others (Proverbs 11:18 & Proverbs 12:5). They are unmerciful to others instead seeking revenge or reprisal for being wronged (Matthew 5:7 & James 2:13).
Paul concludes this indictment of mankind with the reality that people take pleasure in leading others into sin and deeper depravity that have completely given themselves over into the lap of the wicked one. Worse than all of these depraved conditions and actions that come from a fallen and unregenerate heart is the heart that gets its thrills, kicks, and entertainment from the sin and debauchery of others (Psalm 50:18). The Hollywood film industry and television industry makes billions year after year by satisfying the pleasure seeking and whoring hearts that long to witness the uncleanness in humanity displayed in big screen living color and high definition day after day month after month and year after year. Many of the people who act in this God dishonoring, Christ defaming, and satanic exaltations are held up as today’s idols and worshiped as if they were some sort of gods. This is the reason for Entertainment Tonight and the many other shows like that one totally and singularly devoted to tracking the lives of these film and TV idols. The reprobate mind Paul speaks of is a mind without God the Holy Spirit (therefore it is a mind with some degree of insanity) (Jude 1:19) capable of the most debased, defiled, and deadly acts of violence against other human beings and likewise the most dreadful acts of depraved sexual activity invented. Every soul or person unregenerate is living with a mind under the control of the evil one (and thus it is a foolish mind and an insane mind, even the most intelligent (human intelligence do understand) well respected man or woman in our world. This is not popular speech by the lost worlds standards, but nevertheless it is the truth from the One True God my Lord, Master, and Savior Jesus Christ (1 John 5:18-21).

If you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ and His amazing healing power, pray this from your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ (you speaking directly to Him), Dear Lord Jesus, I confess to You that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe You shed Your Blood and died for my sins. I believe that You rose from the dead proving that You alone are God. I repent of my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I ask You Dear Lord Jesus to come into my heart and take control of my life. I want You to be my Lord, Savior, and my God. Amen...
