LEN'S LINES -- A Little Religion In A Positive Note By Len Granger
God Still Answers Prayer and Knows Best.
Living on a farm presents situations much different than those found in the cities. However, the Lord everyday answers our prayers if we only go to Him for guidance and protection. Our small farm is located not far from Dixon, California, a community known for it's rich agricultural history and farmland that produces record crops.
This is the fifth year we have planted 1/2 acre in a Church Garden and from this garden we give over two tons of garden produce to several churches, neighbors, friends and relatives each year. There is some 36 different kinds of summer and winter squash with all their various shapes and colors, tomatoes, cucumbers, Swiss chard, melons and pumpkins galore. We were faced with heavy winds the week we normally plant the garden, so strong that winds took down a large towering tree on the farm which missed the house and parked vehicles.
Since my wife and I are very senior citizens, we must limit our garden work to early in the morning around 6 AM and in the evenings before the sun goes down, for about four hours a day. Our prayers to the Lord have been answered with the winds being very close to normal during the hours we are in the garden, The winds up to 40 miles per hour have occurred during the night hours and in mid-day, but with the Lords guidance we planted seeds in 140 hills of summer squash and 120 hills of winter squash along with the plants of other items.
Our Bible tells us in the Bible as our Lord Jesus Christ speaks about the winds, John 3:8, "The wind bloweth where it listeth, and hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and wither it goeth, so is everyone that is born of the Spirit."
It is also the time of the year when our herd of beef cattle have their calves but we have seen a noticeable difference that is hard to explain, except that the Lord knows best. The weather here in northern California had one of the driest years on record during the months of February to April when most of our calves are usually born. The irrigation water was made available early on the 15th of M arch. Our first calf this year was born on 4 May, when the pasture with irrigation was plush with green grass the mother cows need for a good milk supply. The cows were bred two months later than usual last year explaining the late arrival of the calves this year. Yes, I know the Lord lives and has full control of the earth and things upon it as we see in the Bible. Genesis, 1:26," And God said, " Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." Our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ gave us control over the cattle but He kept the breeding cycle in His hands.
Trust this Sunday we will all be the church of our choice praising and worshiping Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior who watches over us.
