A Life’s Mission set by God

“I saw Jesus, our guru and all other incarnations together last night,” my elder sister called me from my native place. It was early in 2010. Though she had been going through a very critical psychological issue that time, I believed her after my initial hesitation. After all, the great souls who were spiritually gifted were called ‘insane’ too. We are devout Hindu, and here ‘Guru’ is referred to as our spiritual guru just like many other Indians have. Though since our childhood, we learnt from our parents to pray to all the spiritual figures from different religions, because it is believed as per the verses of the ‘Bible’ or ‘Bhagavad Gita’ (Hindu Scripture) that all the spiritual powers and incarnations emanate from the same source which we call ‘God’.

I can remember before this problem started when everything was apparently fine with my sister (from the realistic point of view), she forecast things which actually happened. I got proof on numerous occasions, and I am not one who usually believes in spiritual wonders without authentic evidence. Any problem I faced in my professional and personal life, I consulted her to know what she thought. The resolutions she provided me made me believe that indeed God transforms some people with pure soul into a spiritual powerhouse. Just to clarify that my elder sister is neither a religious leader nor a self-proclaimed savior of mankind. She has been a housewife most of her life, but the mid-life crisis and her detachment to materialist things had complicated the issue. This rough patch of her life had put her married life in jeopardy – she had no interest in day-to-day household chores and used to dump herself in a couch and kept talking to herself – all related to spiritualism.

Both I and my sister inherited our inclination to god from our mother. My mother’s purity and unwavering devotion to the almighty saw us through all the turmoil of our life including my father’s untimely death. No wonder that my sister got those spiritual visions backed up with wonderful logic of the Laws of Universe. So, when she told me that she saw Jesus, our guru and the other divine figures together, it did not actually surprise me. She had only shared it with me and my mother, since her husband would have laughed it off. Gradually, the whole situation got more complicated when her earthy life and her increasing spiritual ability clashed with each other. Sometimes it got embarrassing when she commented on someone abruptly, as if she could read the person’s life like a book. That actually put other people totally off-guard. My mother and I knew what she said was correct, and nothing was preplanned. It was her spiritual energy inside, that made her speak like that, and others could have easily termed it as ‘crazy’ or ‘insane’.

She once explained to me that our guru wants an integration of all the religions and seeing all the incarnation together was the outset of the things to come. She also said, this spiritual journey will start off somewhere in the Western world, and people across the world from all religions will join hand-in-hand. It seemed too good to be true when I heard, and did not believe her for the first time. I was more worried about her psychological condition than those spiritual tales. Then after much turmoil, she has got back to the mainstream of life. She does not have those visions anymore, and she cannot remember them either. Later, I thought about it a lot about the statements she made during those times, especially the one “Look for the symbols and signals in your life, which would actually lead us to our life’s true goal”. And I looked back to my life since my childhood days and see the trend, and try to match the symbols. I found that it was leading me towards something more significant and worthwhile than the lust, greed, jealousy, infighting, and the cut-throat competition that prevail in this world. It is something very meaningful that I had been looking for all my life with a lingering discomfort that something was amiss. It made me change my career from a Manager in a US-based MNC to an aspiring writer since writing is the best way for me to reach out to people. If I get successful in that endeavor, it will pave the way to the greatest mission of my life – to be a part of a great spiritual revolution that is coming up within a decade. I am waiting keenly to do my bit without any expectation that the God will open up the heaven’s door for me.

Helping people through religious work will be a fulfilling mission, and it will let me die peacefully. If you do some introspection, and see similar trend in your life which is different than the run-of-the-mill life, it might be because it will lead you to some enlightening experience. It’s not a vague statement since I know quite a few people who have experienced it, including me. If you feel some discomfort and something is missing, look for an answer. If you have a lingering feeling that despite your successful career and all material success, everything seems futile, look for an answer. Firstly, ask your soul….if you don’t get an answer, find someone who is spiritually gifted. He/she might guide you. If you try to overlook these signs, and submerge yourself in earthy matters, you won’t be able to get rid of it. I did the same, and it came back to me again and again. Now, I know why I am here….and ready to go till the end. It is God’s way or no way….
